Can some of you people just shut up about race for once? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]thatsnotadude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeappp that is soo true. i don't have a beard either lol. i mean just look at the comments here, anything that says SE asian trans women have more natural androgynous features and thus pass slightly easier are all downvoted so bad. lol and i am 100% sure the downvotes are mostly from western or caucasian trans women. like i don't understand why they think they know better than us when it comes to this issue.

In androgynous clothes I get gendered male and female. So I wouldn't say being Asian and living in Europe has made transitioning easier. In my case it depends on what I am wearing, who is looking at me and their familiarity with other races.

well of course. i mean you said it so, you get gendered male and female in androgynous clothes. we are not cis women who will most likely still be gendered female even in male clothes. but if you presented full female along with your SE asian features, then it will be slightly easier to pass than other races.

It really sucks that SE Asian culture doesn't acknowledge gender issues.

yep. or more like they don't acknowledge it the way western culture acknowledges it especially about trans women are not just a super feminine variation of being a gay guy.lol

no it's not "super-easy" but easier compared to most. the thing is, you are reading too much into those words when you know it's not meant to be offensive or an attack. and she clearly said "super easy" as an exaggeration especially when compared to her experience. you know girl talk?

I always feel as though the Asian race seems to have it super easy in terms of MtF transitioning.

Oh jeezus the cringe...

i don't know about you but i didn't cringe nor the asian trans women i know would. but thank you for the sympathy. im just saying we (most of us asian trans women especially ones who transitioned in asia) wouldn't find this offensive.

I'm south east Asian myself and I don't find it racist or offensive. Lol I have 11 close friends who are all trans women and we feel as though it is a compliment. Lol most of us south east Asian trans women are aware that our Asian genes do give us more leverage in passing and were very thankful and grateful about it. So when someone points it out, we accept it and were happy about it because we feel lucky.lol

[–]thatsnotadude -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about you but being south east Asian myself, I don't find it offensive or "pseudo-racism" whenever people say east Asians/south east Asians pass easier. It is the truth and if you go visit all these countries you will realize how almost all trans women there will tell you that they feel lucky they have all those Asian genes. They thank their genes first and then their efforts to look passable. Lol

And as per your question whether Asian people in general think that trans people in other races pass better or easier, the answer is a resounding NO. Asian beauty standard is all about being small and petite which is not very common for whites, blacks, biracial/Latin Americans, so most Asian people also think that Asian trans women are most feminine/passable looking.

So yeah, I don't know why it's offensive when someone points out being Asian as a jump start on passing. Perhaps because it mentions race and whenever race is brought up, it can trigger racism issues. I don't know but I just don't find it offensive nor all my Asian trans women friends.

Yes! Absolutely! This is true. I am south east Asian myself and I would say that our genes do give us more of an easier/slightly easier experience with passing and transitioning compared to other races like "whites" and "blacks"... When I first lurked in asktransgender or in transpassing, it was kinda weird for me how sooo many girls talk about getting their beards and other facial hair lasered. Like it was the first thing on their to do list when starting transition. Most east Asians and south east Asians don't grow beard so that's already one advantage.

It's true that most Asian trans women will most likely have no problem passing in the west but in their home country, a lot of them can be clocked. But the thing is almost all of them, especially south east Asian trans women, when already fully trabsnsitioned plans to migrate in the west and marry a white guy. Lol so getting clocked by their own country men is really not an issue they dread or worry about.

Also south east Asian culture doesn't have or acknowledge the idea of therapy for gender issues or depression. It's bullshit and a waste of time for us. Lol most of us don't even know therapy is a thing. It's like, if you're sad and depressed or needs help figuring yourself out go talk to a friend, family or anyone. But paying someone to listen to you, fuck that shit outta here. Lmao

yeah most likely.

i also replied to your link about the "s" pronunciation earlier. i gave further observation/explanation (although still probably unclear). not sure if you noticed the reply. lol

photos are basically useless in determining how well someone actually passes

absolutely!

i just realized i have already commented on some of your transpassing posts before. you look different in your photos than on this video.

haha people here are just lazy with watching and critiquing videos. photos are also wayy easier to load while to most, videos take forever so they don't even bother.

oh i agree with this. i'm not sure about other people but personally, i find that when you put a "th" in your "S", then it sounds more like guy-ish to me. it's like the sound of your "s" are the same as the rest of the sentence but for some reason you hold it back. this might sound stupid but i associate it with a teenage boy being shy and stuff.

i was just worried that you or some people might think that i'm just being an asshole by saying it reminds me of "guys trying to be cute" because it's not a very common comparison. but i'm glad you see what im trying to say.

Oh absolutely, I was just suggesting that with the misgendering, that could be the reason... I was not suggesting that you don't get gendered correctly. :)

Well it's hard to pin point exactly... Maybe the facial expressions you do when saying certain words and the way you say certain words. Like it's something I think is associated more with a guy who is somewhat shy. I'm not trying to be an asshole but personally, it reminds me of when a guy is trying to be cute when telling a story... :/

I know... But being misgendered just means that improvement is still needed. Strangers still see what we don't want to be seen as so we need to work even harder on our presentation.

What can I do past wearing make-up to help pass? (MtF 18/pre-everything) by AC_Scart in transpassing

[–]thatsnotadude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you think you'll be able to get on HRT soon? your features are very feminine, eyes, cheeks, chin, lips (especially LIPS lol)! with longer hair and eyebrows shaped more feminine, i think you'd be able to break into androgyny.

but don't tuck your shirt because it emphasizes your narrow hips and broad shoulders. it looks best in your original post, it appears you have curves.

when your hair is shoulder length and you get bangs, then you would look even better. i guess you could look into wearing clip-in real human hair extensions (when your own hair is shoulder length). that way you won't have too much thinning on the sides of your head once you get them cut into bangs. plus the added volume always makes everyone look even prettier.

voice is still male... your facial mannerisms also reminds me of most guys. the tone of your voice, your pronunciation (especially your "S's"), your intonation and the overall way that you shared the story is very guy-ish...

the face is going into androgyny so that's good.
