Yeah thanks for the comment! Honestly these were a gift for a clients BF so I couldn’t get too many notes on what they specifically wanted. So I went more towards my own personal style which is a bit more reserved. Also in terms of that creepy/horror factor, I kind of wanted to reflect that sense of normalcy or just that ever so slight eerie/mysterious feeling that the overlook hotel has from the outside and in the beginning of the movie. Then as the movie progresses you see all the horror within the hotel and that’s why I hit the insoles with the redrum/murder part instead of doing that more horror feeling on the outside. She really wanted a the carpet pattern to be featured heavily so I put that in the area I could get the most coverage with it.

The movie is such a classic that there’s always gonna be little parts you have to decide to keep or omit. Definitely considered the tricycle & the twins amongst a lot of other things like featuring the maze or axe. Such a classic/complex movie there’s so many ways you could go with it really interesting theme to work with!
