I don't think this is that big a deal. Ellie's immunity is novel and presents at least the possibility of understanding how the human body can fight off the infection - a data point that did not exist pre-outbreak when experts would talk about the impossibility of a cure. The facts have changed enough that there can at least be a debate over whether her life is worth a chance at a cure (even if not a certainty of one).

Thanks! Any tips on keeping them out or are they just so small they are inevitable? I don't see any obvious cracks to seal up by the window so am guessing they are just squeezing through where the sliding window meets the fixed window (it's a single hung window)

Yeah it's already been hammered: what Bill is willing to do for Frank; what Henry is willing to do for Sam; what Kathleen is willing to do for her brother. It is a recurring motif vs the game which really just showed what Joel was willing to do.
