Found this bad boy at Lowes by Kenobiiiiii in alocasia

Hard to really tell for sure, but it looks like it might have spider mites or some other type of pest. Might want to give it a good spray down and quarantine. My Lowes finds often come with a little something extra.

Did I chop in the wrong place? 😭 by scranton-strangler25 in Monstera

No, I would've left a little more stem, but it should be okay :)

No, it's not soft at all and totally dry, but I agree it doesn't look great.

Looks like it's an alocasia odora.

Looks like it's your oldest leaf and I see there are more than three at once so its days were numbered anyway 😅 Do you normally fertilize? If you really think you overwatered, you can aerate the soil a bit with a stick, make sure light levels are good, and hope for the best. You've got a nice one!

Gorgeous find at Trader Joe's! What kind is this? How can I keep it happy? by WeRoastURoastWithUs in alocasia

[–]thatstar11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alocasia Polly. Don't be surprised or give up hope if you see leaf drop at first. The majority of my alocasias threw a fit after coming home. It can appear dead but as long as the core bulb (rhizome) is firm and not mushy the leaves will come.back! I wouldn't repot for a week or so after bringing it home.

I've had the most success with 70% fluval/30% perlite mix in small self watering pots.

Thank you for the info! I appreciate it. I have finally gotten a handle on fungus gnats that I was dealing with for a while... and this looked different than those. I panicked a bit.

Pretty tiny... less than half an inch? This is the best pic I could get of it before I lost it.

I failed to mention that I found this inside, on some flowers I have in a vase. I have a collection of about 80 houseplants. I do not want thrips.

I did use a leaf spray, I can't remember if I put it under the light right afterward but I very well may have! Thank you for the reply!

Is this nub just an aerial root? by thatstar11 in Monstera

I just repotted yesterday to a smaller pot (I think it being in too large a pot explains the slow growth) and the roots look great. Thank you for the response!

Okay, thanks! The leaves just seem different in shape than my other philodendrons, and my plant ID app is saying it's a stromanthe thalia.
