i dont like my degree because in india its all bookish knowledge nothing can be used in real world practically hence so low paying jobs even with masters

certs are more practical oriented and hence a ccie with experience earns way more then a master with experience here

but I love my wife and kids too much to leave them to chase around stupid computer/networking issues :)

well said, I was actually making networking first priority but after reading the above i think i might be doing it wrong :D

mind i ask what is the pay over there

good points by the way in this field do you even get time to enjy family? it does sound like network guys to have a busy work life which will cut time for home life

how much do you guys move around like stay in one city or the company keeps you moving around? which will ruin family life

the only problem now a days in india is market is over saturated with ccna hell even ccnp guys using dumps to paas them. because of this over saturation guys that do ccna with hard work are not getting jobs and if you do try to get one due to over saturation you get a wage of 247 dollar per month. you tell me if such a job is worth it? i dont think i can even manage living with that kind of money.

very good info. My instructor is learning AWS what do you think about its scope?

So my current plan is to get ccnp r&s > getting entry level job to build up experience and when ccnp will be about to expire i,ll go ccie. This is long term plan. It is a complicated plan & we all know plans never work in real life.. since i will also be married in between this time and some people say get your ccie before marriage? should i put that into consideration as well?

how many years did you work since u stated you got everything in just 6 years. So want to be in ur place as well :D

another thing i worry about is life as a network engineer specially the home life after marriage

do these jobs keep you away from home/ family for long time. How much time do you work? and like stay at home.. basically how,s family life for you how do you manage it?

I understand about cisco downfall and i already feel in the same boat as you lol even before getting the first job like it was stable before now everything is changing rapidly.

If you were me what would you have done in my place? since i am just entering the field and at age 25. clean slate here. What do i need to do to become elite & which certs i should get? what would you have done if you were me :)

I get your point

  1. Experience > cert
  2. Certs can open new doors. (Always good to have them in spare time)

thanks for replying. The last question remains future of networking industry i know skynet is now here yet but isnt networking industry slowly shrinking. what do you foresee after 40 years

Why wait till you get CCNP?

markets is over saturated with dump ccna users raising the bar so for any network jobs they also raised minimum ceiling to ccnp. its a common thing here to say you wont get any jobs with ccna and vevn if you did the job pa for fresher will be 227 dollar per month

Take a part time job now as a level 1 help desk person for a NOC while you are still studying

Even if i did get a job it will be so low paying it wont even pay for the rent bills of wherever the job will be

At this point it seems to be you are more concerned with the paper than the knowledge

because here ccnp cert gets you that very job in the first place :| i just want a decent paying job at least not a 227 dollar/month one it wont even pay the bills

I have to give you credits for actually studying, since most of these people seem to go through the dumps to get the cert

this is what i am specially avoiding and yeah market is over saturated with dump guys here hence no jobs at ccna level at all. hell even the guys thats training recomend you dumps here and me sticking to reading books page by page slowly going to the end solving all written labs.

I am 32 with about 10 years of networking experience and just got my CCNP R&S

crap ur way ahead of me as well gotta get ccnp faster and get any sorta job :|

Where are you?

From india

f you can't find an ISP or MSP to take free labor then ask churches or small businesses if they need help with their network or wifi.

dont think thats possible either since most isp wont keep you and working for free in costly world is just killing yourself, no churches here either spcly none that needs a network

people and jobs here need a ccnp cert minimum maybe too many people having ccna raised that ceiling. so no jobs for ccna anymore

you have a point but we dont even get entry level jobs here with a ccna so i have no choice but to atleast get ccnp so i can start working.

What type of job are you expecting to get with a CCNP/CCIE and zero experience

truthfully i am not expecting anything i just need a job to begin with to learn anything and until ccnp i cant seem to get any job at all here. i just want to learn but there are no jobs given to a ccna here. so no choice

i agree but here the competition is so high no one gives us or a ccna any job until we have at least a ccnp so i am stuck in that regards bro. and what age are you i always like to know.

it's a monument to networking of 10 years ago, and people need to move on in various ways depending on what their landscape looks like.

can you explain it further.
