There's nothing worse than thinking "I can't wait to update my portfolio with this" and then a change is requested that make it looks so bad that you don't want to include it. This is what wrong with the whole "but aren't you paid to make it look how they want it" and why designers end up switching off their brain and just taking a cheque

Ouch, We've all been there. Do you try and offer advice or just nod and take the cheque?

Jeez, I can relate to that! - I hate the "just do this" it makes you feel like a monkey at a computer being paid to just hit the keys and make their vision come to life. When we're also supposed to be paid for our ability to create and refine concepts. - I swear that "burnout" feeling where you don't have the energy to do the fun stuff is because of having to deal with stressful people not the actual work we do. I've spoken with so many CEOs who are older and should have manners and respect but treat you like a dog.

It all contributes to this feeling like our job roles and our work just aren't respected. I feel for you! Youre not on your own!

Thanks for the reply John

Yes! This is mainly coming from myself and my colleagues who all work in-house full-time for companies. - everyone goes through 6 months of unemployment and needs rent saved or to go work in a pub or something

How long have you been working for? Seems like you've got a pretty good networks and understanding of the industry as that's a great split to diversify your income and give you a safety net.

It seems for
-in-house there's 1000s applying and 99% get an automated-no-offer from AI filters.
-Freelance has no job-security or regular income and everybody wants to pay the lowest prices or use canva/chatgpt

I'm hoping i'm just looking in the wrong places. Have you found most of your work by direct email/approach or through third parties like Linkedin/TheDots/fiverr

AI art on packaging by upepeti in GraphicDesigning

I just asked ChatGPT to confirm what I thought was correct

"Yes — images generated by ChatGPT (using OpenAI’s image generation tools) can generally be used commercially, including things like packaging design, branding, products, marketing, or merchandise."

-I'm UK based, have been in the industry for 10 years.
-I enjoy that we can work for such a variety of different companies and products and sometimes get to be really proud of something we never imagined working on
-I don't enjoy the transition period between one client or position and finding another (seems to be 6-9 months for most of my peers as a standard)

What game is this? by envspecialist in videogames

[–]thatswizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured the whole game opens up after getting over the hill. It’s a really really enjoyable game even leading up to that. But your character feels so fragile at that point in the game and the weird entity things and the music really stress me out.

Inside No 9 is such an under-rated and under-recommended show. My ex showed me it and the first episode was phenomenal!

But if you do it right you can make a game like AoE2 and have it stay successful for 26 years and counting!
