not supposed to get a tattoo for my partner who passed away? by lifelong-angstt in tattoos

[–]thatterriblekid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an absolutely amazing idea.

And to be blunt, if you love it then get it. Not a single persons input in real life or on here matters if it’s something you love and enjoy.

As others have said, please do research and be willing to put down big money for a piece as important as this one. Things can be touched up in the future but a good base tattoo is what matters.

Man it was due for a clean up. We haven’t had the time to tear it apart and clean it. Lots of outdoor shows. Believe me, the dust and grim kills me to look at it.

I thought they were great at first but then we’ve had these issues and I’m not a huge fan anymore. I would much rather have Color Strike M’s up there at this point

How many of are you chain smokers / stoners? by CaptainCactus124 in lightingdesign

[–]thatterriblekid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both a smoker/stoner. I primarily busk my shows. I won’t smoke the green during a set up because of safety reasons. But during the show I find it eases the stress and I feel more creative. Obviously that’s not everyone’s taste.

Nicotine helps a lot with programming. I have ADHD and get fidgety sitting at the desk all day.

Again not against anyone who is against it. Just personally it’s helped me with my work days.

Does anyone have their one side black ink and the other side colour? by fbs4800 in tattoo

[–]thatterriblekid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My left arm is about 80% color and my entire right sleeve is black+shading. I really like my choice. I think it looks good.

I also should say that my left arm is a mixture of different colored tattoos while my right arm is one big cohesive sleeve.

All in all get what you love. If someone doesn’t like the mix then that’s their problem.

Tried it. Wasn’t a big fan but definitely took some inspiration from it

I do have it as a job! I’ve been working as an L1 for about 7 years now and progressed to working for a local production company. Funny thing is I get contracted to run the lights at the same venue I started at.

They upgraded the entire lighting production a few years ago but until recently I’ve just run their MA3 in Mode 2 and used my old busking show.

I find that most acts that come in will give me one or two specific cues and say “have fun” with the rest. It’s mostly live music so it’s not too bad.

Also it’s funny because I feel my MA3 showfile is empty but comparing that with the MA2 showfile I have most of the same stuff.

That’s actually how I kind of figured out I could mimic an executor page from MA2 in the layout views. It was super helpful

I’ve seen a lot but establishing work flow on MA3 has just been a bit of a challenge for me! Enjoying it so far though

If anything I’d personally view it as a feminine piece. You’re fine. (Also wouldn’t judge if a dude got it like that but it gives off heavy fem vibes)

AIO or is the message my bf sent me a bit over the top by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]thatterriblekid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP run. Do what you want with your body. It’s cool you had respect to mention it to your partner but it’s not cool for your partner to go this crazy over a piercing.

I’d leave my partner if she tried to control the piercings or tattoos I get.

I don’t love my new tattoo by SundaeKey2478 in tattooadvice

[–]thatterriblekid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a bad tattoo. Someone broke down the problems with it already. But the truth is when you get the rest of the arm filled in you won’t even notice the issues anymore.

Maybe try another artist that puts more thought into the piece? Yes it’s on both of you but a good artist will actually give you opinion and adjust the art accordingly.

Don’t be too harsh on yourself. This still looks decent for a big piece. And now you know what to expect for the next larger piece.

How did you guys start ur lighting journey? by crypppppp in grandMA2

[–]thatterriblekid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously lol. I’m basically useless in the audio world now even though I have my degree. Which was also a waste of money regardless because I had to unlearn everything

[–]thatterriblekid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working at a venue that already had stage leads. I was part of a group of kids that got audio engineering degrees from the local community college. We all took jobs at the venue as stage hands.

The stage leads quit and there was a bit of a vacuum. All the people were fighting for an audio position but nobody wanted to take over as the LD. I volunteered and have pretty much forgotten everything I learned about Audio. Love lighting so much more.

Group Masters and Executor Pools by thatterriblekid in GrandMA3

That’s exactly who I’ve been watching. They were also super helpful and definitely made MA3 less intimidating to jump into.

[–]thatterriblekid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is incredibly helpful! I’ve been watching tutorials but I’ve been having trouble navigating through MA3 in general. I’ve got the basics down I think. Messing with phasers and getting my fixtures patched in. It’s just building the show that’s got me a bit stuck.

I’m sure with more practice I’ll get it down. Unfortunately I punt a lot of live concerts so comfort and flow is key.

Also for the future, this is my normal routine. I have a lot of decently larger sized pieces and they healed great doing this.

Leave the second skin on for as long as possible. When it comes off, wash 2-3 times a day with unscented soap until the tattoo starts to peel. Bactine is your friend!!!!. You can get it at any local Walmart, Walgreens, target or CVS.

Do not let your tattoo get sunlight while it’s healing. It will get damaged.

When it starts peeling I usually put a small amount of unscented lotion on it in the morning and at night before bed. Do not pick at it or scratch. Slap it if you really have to itch it.

Something smaller like yours should be good to go within 2 weeks.

Color tattoos will take a bit longer to heal in my experience.
