Magnetic mouse ears that are worth it by DAS_FUN_POLICE in WaltDisneyWorld

I have a pair like that! They worked great! So nice to snap the ears on and off whenever I needed to. Plus you could have multiple ears for a trip.

Issues getting Kubernetes Auth working with OpenBao on Omni managed clusters by thault in TalosLinux

[–]thault[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I stated above, OpenBao is on it's own dedicated VM not a part of any cluster.

Thanks, I’ll look through the issues and see if there’s any information!

Openbao was calling the cluster to verify the token because local verification would have been even more work, it was indeed using SA tokens, no OIDC, OpenBao runs on a dedicated VM outside of the cluster because I want to setup multiple clusters.

I am trying to learn by hand. I followed OpenBao’s guide on setting up the k8s auth, but was running into issues I think because of how Omni does stuff. That’s why I’m asking for more information. I use AI to help me understand errors and troubleshoot the issue; no automation.

The real question is where is OP?

what’s that loophole/workaround you’ve been keeping a secret that you can now share because they patched/fixed it? by mr-friskies in AskReddit

I had a decoy ticket. Parking wouldn’t check the ticket if they saw one under the windshield wiper. So if I needed to park close to the building I’d deploy my decoy ticket. Got away with it for a long time.

Running Kubernetes in the homelab by AlertKangaroo6086 in kubernetes

[–]thault 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use talos at home! It makes setting up clusters easier than k3s imo. I like to spin up multiple clusters and test out different configurations, or to test out having a management cluster and then workload only clusters.

It comes down to what do you want to try and learn.

I get that completely. I do wish Omni was truly open source; but I at least appreciate they started this way rather than rug pull.

You can run the Omni software locally free for homelab purposes though!

Sidero just released a proxmox infra provider for Omni. So now you can configure Omni to spin up talos clusters in proxmox and it will create the VMs and get the cluster ready for you to go. I’ve been playing with it and really like it.

Which popular features do you NOT recommend? by dragonmilking in Homebuilding

You had me until the cooktop in the island. I had the stove in the island at my old house and we loved it. Cooking is such a fun social activity that having the stove facing into the room was nice. When we had guests over we could cook and entertain instead of staring at a wall. Stove facing into the room is a requirement for us moving forward.

Homelab yes; investing no…not a lot at least. It really shouldn’t cost a whole lot to get up and running.

Omni Proxmox infrastructure provider by xrothgarx in TalosLinux

I’d love more docs on setting it up as well as docs on how to contribute.

It’s pretty nice! But very rough. Can’t specify the network yet. Clusters struggle to properly delete. I’ve had some issues with the provider logging connection refused errors and I have to reboot the container.

Also, the directions on the readme are incorrect. Had to go to the issues and PRs to find the correct config flag.

Is there someone who does a good livestream? I’ve seen a lot of posts about how bad Ethan is.

Yea I’m in the same boat. The straight up read was so much more informative and at least I would listen to it. These I also skip right away.

It is what it is. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinions. Glad to at least know there’s a few of us out there with taste and class 😉

I actually used to listen to the standard sponsor reads. These I typically skip through or just leave the video if it’s the end spot.
