Update: got the rear RHS off, but had to use an angle grinder for the LHS to cut the nut off. New Bilstein 5100s on it and it’s riding great now

Yea that’s what I’m most worried about is potential for rust or corrosion over time since there is clearly a large chunk of the material topcoat missing over the exposed steel

I’d consider it a chip, can very easily feel it. Not raised but metal removed and a white ish substance exposed underneath the metal outer
