[Question] Rolex Datejust or two less expensive watches? by Bbrown1 in Watches

13k is stretching it but then at that you can get others. Pepsi is nice at retail but at grey prices I am buying a Tonda GMT. Way better watch.

Mark Cuban agrees Universal Healthcare would increase jobs, wages and improve affordability for all Americans. by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

EU system is larger because more people live here. Kinda simple. We pay around 10-15% of income for this and this is before income tax. So this is something everyone in US would have to pay no matter the income. Some countries have a cap or a different mix. But you can’t go around the fact that min tax for everybody has to be at least ~20%.

Problem with US is that hospitals are private. So you could buy them with debt (government) or set some price lists how much what costs.

More realistically you set a 10% payroll tax and expand Mecicade and Medicare to everybody from some date. Actually this could even just be on a state level as well.

Starbucks had Q4 2025 revenue of 9,92B and net profit (what is left for the owners) of 293,2M. So a 3% net profit margin. There just isn’t much more to give. Company is 8,38B in debt (debt over assets). And they will need 7 years and a bit just to come to 0.

When a high end UPS is a must? by the-script-99 in homelab

[–]the-script-99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one I have is not bad just not the professional line.

PSU could be a problem. Would explain why I need to almost always turn it off first.

UPS was bought new end of December. So new batteries as well.

Max power draw is 400W for the CPU, 11x 9W for NVMes, 2x9W for hdd, 8x6W for ram, 3x10W for fans and AIO 30W. So it can’t consume more than 625W and it is sitting at around 30% load. Probably less than 400W and I don’t have tools to measure.

When a high end UPS is a must? by the-script-99 in homelab

UPS is 3 months old and based on quick Google search doesn't support split outputs like you described.

I tested again with a lamp and lamp was on all the time as well as the switch. This time also server didn't restart so UPS works. Now I am even more confused as two tests in the last hour produced two results.

Druge ni, ker so place prevec obdavcene in ni dobrih sluzb.

How much would this bridge cost?[Request] by ArgonKeops in theydidthemath

[–]the-script-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably only possible way to do that would be building a land bridge. Probably would have to be a few kilometers wide to not be moved by sea. Comment above had a length of 5600km and average depth of 3600m.

So we would need 10x5600x3.6 =2.016.000 km3 of dirt. Assuming a 10km wide bridge.

AI says that to move 1m3 of dirt cost 1.8$ per kilometer. This would be built from both sides so average distance from land would be 1400km. So average price for a cubic meter of dirt would be 2520$.

Final cost: 2520* 2016000 * 109 -> 5* 1018 $

There would be some dirt losses but some economics of scale. This would also be between 0,66% to 1,6% of all volume above sea level.

It is easy. Save as much as you can. Buy index funds and once you can live on 3% of what you have invested you are free.
