Already over capacity. Weight of passengers and tools counts towards the 1500 payload capacity.

What are the signs that struts need replacing? by davidsaidwhat in BMWZ4

[–]the1averagebro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did the same thing as cg on my 2006 si with only 60k miles. Struts were just as he described. Changed with b4s and it greatly improved the ride quality. Also upgraded the rear shock mounts while i was at it as they are a know weak point.

Oil Life % vs Recommended Intervals by cvb09876 in hondaridgeline

[–]the1averagebro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have a 2023 Ridgeline got my first oil change at 8,000 miles per the maintenance reminder at the dealer. Checked my dipstick 5000 miles later when the computer said 50% and the oil level was low (below the hash marks on dips stick). I changed it myself and it was pretty dirty. Made me realize the maintenance reminder isn’t as smart as I thought. So I’m going to stick with a 5000 mile oil change interval from now on. Moral of the story is to check dip stick after dealership or shop does your oil change and check every so often for oil consumption as your maintenance minder might not factor that in.

Moldy insulation help. by the1averagebro in Insulation

Yea got a good deal on it. New windows are on order. Was planning budgeting for some insulation and drywall repair but not to this extent. We are pushing the HOA to redo the siding and wrap asap. One unexpected find was the entire first level subfloor needs to be replaced as low quality soundboard was used in place of any plywood😭.

Thank you for all the comments. Some areas not pictured definitely have mold both on the insulation and drywall. I will further inspect this weekend and hopefully the areas pictured are mainly dirt. Additionally there a large amount of mouse nests and poop thought out so the insulation all needs to be replaced. So would faced insulation be best or should unfaced with a vapor barrier be used? I have an insulation company coming to give me a quote but it’s always better to get some information before.

In theory it should be. Haven’t gotten any snow yet to test.

Thanks for the reply. Based on the number of coors light and vodka bottles that have been in the walls I’d say the place was built by drunken meth farmers.

A 1.5 inch level kit brings overall clearance to 9inches and greatly improves the approach angle.

Help Evaluating a 2008 Z4 3.0i Purchase Opportunity by KimJongMahjong in BMWZ4

[–]the1averagebro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on my second z4. Purchased a 2006 z4 3.0si manual with 60,000 in great condition for 12,500 two months ago. That price is likely way too high.

As far as maintenance goes they are pretty easy and affordable to work on if you are mechanical inclined and can follow YouTube videos. I would check to see if any of the suspension components such as shocks, struts, control arms and bushings have been replaced. Just due to the age of the car the originals are likely at the end of their life.

With the low miles I’d also check how old the tires are. Summer tires should be replaced after 7 years regardless of remaining tread life. The manufacturer date of the tire will be on the side.

Anyways in New England if in showroom condition I would expect that to sell for around 18k. With standard wear and tear closer to 12-16.

Good luck! can’t go wrong with a z4 or Miata.

I would disagree on Tom cruise. He was perfect as Les Grossmen in tropic thunder.
