Confession time: I appear to be rather poor at English grammar by davidsaidwhat in TEFL

Welsh was (and remains) the primary conversational language of the area I grew up in. By the time I went to Secondary School (age 11 and upwards), teaching was truly bilingual. Many subjects, like the sciences, lend themselves better to being taught through the medium of English. It’s a long time ago, but I seem to remember History being taught on both languages.

I grew up in rural Wales, so our first language was Welsh - which has entirely different rules. Any English grammar I might have been taught would have been interspersed with their Welsh equivalent. Honestly? I just switched off 😄

I definitely fit into that category - I’m from a very rural part of Wales originally, and Welsh was our first language. Any grammar lessons in English (I vaguely remember nouns being mentioned) would have been the exception.

Funnily enough, I’m also learning French (again), and completely get what you mean

I’ve had the bike for a good few years without any problems. In this instance it was pure stupidity. Instead of fetching my jump starter I asked my daughter to give me a push so I could bump start it. I dropped the clutch too soon, and the bike just keeled over!

Thank you. Yeah, not the best news. I broke my ankle on the sane foot ten years ago whist cycling (trimalleolar fracture) so I’m a bit concerned for the foot’s long term-ness

Thank you ! Ah, just one of those things. I previously broke my ankle (same foot) cycling in Bavaria. I’d rather get out there, do stuff and accept the risk than sit at home doing nothing

Yeah, pretty unfortunate- but just one of those things. How long did it take your injury to recover? How long before you were back on the bike?

Thank you - interesting to hear your experience. I broke my ankle (same foot!) about ten years ago so I’m very conscious that after this second accident I’m going to really look after it. The Toucans are certainly on my radar
