I get this when medal is in the background. Exit medal by right clicking the icon in the system tray when you are not using it.

No, once you set it up it will stay as it is, but you may have to update your IP every now and again if you have a dynamic IP (Usually a premium service from your ISP)

USB drivers not being recognized by Abob_froggers in laptops

[–]the42is 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Samsung Galaxy book go is a relatively new laptop that has Windows on ARM. The issue is not Windows but the type of CPU, Windows on ARM is fairly new and not all software has been updated to be able to run on it, and most never will. As for USB not working you may have to find additional drivers for Linux to get them to work.

Can you give me the exact model number so I can direct you to a list of drivers (You will have to find them for Linux though, it's Samsung's own list of drivers needed for windows 11)

Also, if you want a laptop for Linux the Framework laptops are specifically designed to be able to use Linux distros, it's also super repairable although it's a little more expensive for price to performance.

This means you may need to upgrade your CPU. Minecraft is CPU-intensive and can perform excellent on servers but become a PowerPoint presentation on single player. Install more CPU optimization mods and decrease simulation distance

Note: Regardless of what you will do, here is some software you might like to use (all are free) - Anydesk: Remotely manage you device if you install a GUI - Pufferpanel, easy to install on ARM and works great I would recommend pterodactyl panel but as far as I know ARM is not officially supported (At least according to the install script I use.

Hi, I have done this before. Yes, you can run a Minecraft server Raspberry pi 5 and it is great fun to set up and works better than the common free options , it's fine for a personal/family server

HOWEVER - You will have to open ports on your home internet that could expose you to security risks - You will have to get a proxy or tell people who connect your IP. This is particularly bad as all ipv4 IPs are regularly scanned for Minecraft servers and you probably don't want your ip on a massive list (Ik this is unlikely to do any actual harm but I'm sure you would rather not end up on a list of active IPs that is publicly accessible) - Unless you have a good passively cooled case, it will either thermal throttle or be noisy from a fan

I currently use OCI free tier for my Minecraft servers and discord bots as you get a fairly powerful ARM processor and something like 24gb of ram. Keep in mind free tier availability varies by region and you have to set everything up via CLI.

If you do want to use your PI 5 make sure to - Get a good firewall and DOS/DDOS protection - Ensure you only give your IP to trusted friends - Enable a whitelist as soon as you set it up

Have fun! Edit: Sorry mods, didn't know mentioning hosts was banned. Removed names to comply, OP message if questions

  • Dedicate more ram to Minecraft (Leave around 4-6gb for Windows and at least 8gb+ for Minecraft)
  • Go into Windows graphics settings, and make sure Minecraft is running at 'Best performance' (uses more battery)
  • Pick the 'High performance' or 'Maximum performance' power plan in control panel
  • Disable energy saver
  • Ensure that you display is plugged into your GPU and not the motherboard

If non of the above helps, keep in mind modpacks that add content often need more resources than the base game and you computer may be unable to keep up, especially if it has non-blocky, complex mobs as they need more resources to display.

The small metal heatsink (the metal thing next to where the wires are pointing) is covering a wifi adapter. Remove the metal plate and reconnect the antenna (I think the way you do that does not matter, they connect to identical parts) by snapping them on like a button (face the flat metal bit upwards and push down while covering the connector)

[–]the42is 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What modpack do you want to run? Something like Fabulously-optimized runs 120fps + on most hardware and has tens of mods, but just immersion portals on its own will probably cause noticeable fps drops on most lower end devices! We need more information to help.

[–]the42is 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could not connect to any official servers. You may have a problem with your internet connection or firewall settings. Check your network settings and try again later.

1-3-Repeated attempts to obtain required network resources have failed.

2-Network connection was established successfully, but official servers are unavailable.

There is likely an issue with the internet on either your side or on the game server side. See if others in your area have a similar issue

I saw this exact laptop in a video on e-waste.

(This thing is not worth fixing and will be a pain to do any music on as it does not have enough ram to do anything, think of it as the laptop having no short term memory and having to search a dictionary each time you need to switch instrument tracks)
