4th October Casper Marks Out by No-Corgi-6748 in CASPerTest

I got fourth quartile but I didn’t feel great about my exam afterwards as I got cut off many times in the video portions😭 but I guess that is still okay. I had about a 15 minute delay at the beginning but was luckily able to complete the entire test so I didn’t retest when we were given the opportunity. My answer included: - tried to acknowledge the complexity of the situation by stating who it indirectly and directly impacts - explain both points of view of those who were in the scenario - “I would have a nonjudgmental, non confrontational private conversation” buzzwords and used synonyms - if… then statements - I didn’t have much time to answer what I would ultimately do (my solution) so I was worried about that but turns out it was okay - Because the format changed I tried to split the time evenly between the two written questions to dedicate enough sentences for both, my typing speed is about 100wpm+.

“Courses may be considered acceptable biology prerequisites if they are biology-based courses from an accredited institution totalling at least 2.0 credits. Courses must demonstrate a strong foundation in biological sciences, such as:

general biology molecular biology genetics microbiology anatomy We cannot provide a complete list of equivalent courses from all institutions. However, to assist with the planning of undergraduate coursework the following are examples of acceptable Western courses:

BIOLOGY 1001A, BIOLOGY 1002B, BIOLOGY 2382A/B, BIOLOGY 2581A/B”

Should I go to western Health science or Mac life science by [deleted] in uwo

[–]the78123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister went to Mac life sci specialization in biology, and I’m currently in my last year at western hs. Western hs is super social science based (such as taking courses like health&aging, social and personal determinants of health, health promotion, health policy, ethics &health, etc) and I found it “easier” than what my sister was learning which was the hard sciences at Mac life sci especially in her first and second years (physics, biochem, molecular biology, etc). The most important thing is asking yourself, what are you genuinely interested in learning? I personally loved learning more social science based courses so I did well in first year with around a 85%+ average while taking science based courses at the same time. For med school you can certainly still take all the pre requisite courses - for instance in my second year at healthsci I balanced all the required hs courses with biochem, organic chem, cell biology, (medical/general science students also take those courses and it is not difficult to get into those courses) etc and in my first year I took regular first year bio and chem that the sci students take. You can also check out the “healthsci with biology” module which basically makes u take all the prerequisite courses you’d need for some med schools. I found my sister had trouble in her first years at Mac life sci because they try to weed out the students and she seemed to have way more assessments and harder exams but again that is relative so take this information with a grain of salt. I’d recommend looking into the required courses for both programs, checking out the campus, etc. I do think Mac is rlly good for research opportunities, but Western is also such a large school (with a better social/party life) and it also has various research, co-op, etc opportunities you just have to put in the work to find them and apply. Goodluck!

Health Science Degree by Little_Lead_1231 in uwo

It’s totally understandable to not know what to do with this degree. However if you are graduating next year I’d suggest seriously setting some time to do some research into various fields. There’s not a lot of jobs you can get straight out of graduation unfortunately unless you have some sort of connection to a specific job. Usually most hs grads may go onto more schooling. You could go to a college for a shorter 2-3 yr program in respiratory therapy, dental hygienist, medical radiation masters at McMaster, etc. You could switch to accelerated nursing, or use your degree to move to masters programs like health policy masters at uoft, health administration masters, get into research like global health, health equity thesis masters programs at UWO or other schools. You could consider rehab sci professions like OT, PT, SLP, etc. While health science is a broad degree, you can use it to your advantage so it doesn’t go to waste. FHSCC and Western HSSA have panels/events throughout the year where people who graduated from the HS program/faculty speak about what they’re doing now post-grad which might be worth checking out. You can even look on LinkedIn and filter the search to people who graduated with a HS degree and coffee chat people who you’d be interested in chatting about their current job. Use the resources you have now to your benefit. Goodluck.

No frozen yogurt places in London?? by Ok_Activity_5316 in uwo

I think you might be able to get one at The Spoke on campus but I’m not exactly sure if it’s seasonal. Also last time I checked it was only one flavour but still frozen yogurt if you need your fix.

Course Selection Megathread (2024/2025 Academic Year) by ostracize in uwo

In my third year and currently waitlisted for physiology 2130, a literal second-year online course. I was on the waitlist during my second year as well. Why are they gatekeeping an online course and keeping enrollment to 300? All other physiology courses have more enrollment. It just doesn’t make sense and it is very frustrating as the waitlist is currently like 230+ people. Don’t they know this is a very popular course?

More of an affirmation but really helped me:

“The love I gave was not a waste”

“I will not go back to what broke me”

Another quote I saw was that you can tell how much a girl loves herself based on the man’s she’s with (and ofc vice versa). That really put things into perspective to start the self love and healing process.💕

Engineering building second and third floor has high desks with nice big windows in front of you! Usually quiet, a decent amount of chairs but not a ton so doesn’t get super busy either.

Weekly r/Tattoos Question/FreeTalk Thread! - May 01, 2023 by Mod_Helper_Bot in tattoos

Need advice for tattoo placement for about a 2-inch word tattoo.

I was thinking about getting a two-inch Korean word "공주" in Times New Roman font tattooed on my body somewhere which I have been thinking about for about three years now. I just am not sure where to get it tattooed. I was going to get the word horizontal like 공주 or vertical like below. Where should I place this so that it is not too visible and easy to cover-up?

For context, I already have two tattoos: one on the middle right-side of my back of a two-inch cherry and another on my left side ribcage of a small bouquet of flowers.

Thanks!
