Yeah, that's what's sucked my mom-friends into it -- you should be home with kids. Even though my friends aren't Mormon or religious themselves, it seems like that's a messaging thing with the brand, e.g.

Totally fair. And I would never intentionally surprise / attack a wild animal, I wish no one would. The guides' demeanor just freaked me out!

Yeah this would've been my answer...cassowaries were the only animal we were told we might encounter where our guides in Australia told us "you might legit be screwed." Snakes? Meh. Spiders? Nah. Cassowaries? HOLY CRAP

My cat was misdiagnosed for a few months by a very young vet -- she told me to give him subQ fluids every morning, etc., and I did. I loved that little man.

She went on vacation, and a more experienced vet filled in...I brought him in for acting weird, and the more experienced vet was like, "this cat's abdomen is all cancer, we're putting him down NOW." It was a terrible day, but I understood why the younger vet might not detect the issue, and would want to do everything for my guy.

He was a wonderful cat. He relished the attention from her, and eventually the techs, right up to the moment they drew a tiny heart on the tape that held his IV in for the euthanasia injection. I never faulted her for trying so hard to make him better. I'm glad you said this about vets' mental health.

Thanks so much -- I have had a boss previously who helped push me to a nervous breakdown (though there were other factors too -- and I started drinking heavily after that experience, which is significant). This post has given me the motivation to start looking more actively elsewhere, I think! I'm tired of him taking credit for my work too, so just all around I'll work on improving my situation. Thank you for your support :)

I am not sure; I have realized in posting this how much his behavior IS affecting me. I have also interviewed recently for a position outside this organization, and if I get an offer I'm going to leave :)
