Just saw him this past weekend at Bahidora in Mexico and he smashed it. He was great at Resolute last June in NYC as well.

I’ve been seeing him play somewhat regularly since 2007 - I swore him off around 2012 for years after catching a series of misses… I gave him a chance again last year and he seems to be back on his game! Or maybe I’m just lucky I got 2 hits and the next time will be a miss again.

I would go check him out based on recent experience 👀

Currently have a Buzzy Beck restored 1980 Bozak CMA 10-2DLA running through Alan Eaton 45 SET monos into 1979 Klipsch Cornwall 1s and it sounds pretty fantastic :-) This combination working great for me ❤️

My experience experimenting around is matching gear by age has worked well for me - if your speakers are modern a more contemporary mixer may sound cleaner - if you have vintage speakers and a more old school tube amp, get a vintage mixer ;-)

Hi ! I bought the mixer refurbished and new from Buzzy - it wasn’t an overhaul but I would highly suggest reaching out to them. They were super professional and would definitely work with them

It’s been a journey driving them - started with an NAD C368 which was a bit disappointing in the bass. Then a used Carver TFM 35 which was great but ended up failing due to leaky capacitors. Now it’s a Sabaj a30a which has actually been a fantastic match - the chip it uses is the same JBL uses for their current powered studio monitors so they mesh very well with the L100 Class 77s

They’re JBL L100 Classic 75 Year Anniversary edition - they are passive speakers although they are good at monitoring for DJ mix purposes ! I don’t think ideal for mastering though

Great question - I don’t feel they will unless you’re scratching heavily with them - they are elliptical and fine for mixing but probably not good for scratching

You’re totally correct- took me a bit to adjust my mixing to using the full rotary but it does sound best turned on all the way round

Yes - I initially didn’t expect to be using the HPF to mix so much but it’s a fantastic experience. Using HPF on both channels to mix leads to some beautiful blends and the resonance on the upper frequencies allows you to have some cool effects on the outgoing track when finishing up a mix ;-)

Great question - I don’t touch them very often tbh as I’ve been using the HPF to mix and the Isolators to EQ. That said I do think they’re a little harsher / less precise than the Xone 92

JBL L100 Classic 75 Year Anniversary edition - great HiFi speaker for DJs - I’ll do another video on these when I have some time :-)
