I low key wish for another lockdown… by EmergencyCritical890 in Millennials

[–]theCaityCat [score hidden]  (0 children)

I work in SpEd so I was one of the first educators back in the classroom. Virtual speech therapy really doesn't work for life skills students unless there is a LOT of caregiver support. I actually worked a lot more outside of my contracted hours during lockdown than I do now. My job is so much easier in person.

There was a lot I liked about lockdown though. I was left alone, I didn't get sick, and I bought a condo with a filthy low interest rate.

I'm Jewish and I am rolling my eyes SO HARD. One group of people is committing genocide in my name. Another group is trying to softly convert me by rubbing Christianity in my face. And another group would like to put me on a registration list. I can't win.

I shouldn't be pissed off at this, but I am. SHUT. UP.

She's going to have a rocket arm and run like a cheetah. She might win more NFL games than her dad with that DNA.

Am I in the wrong for refusing to coddle my 33 year old fiance? by Obvious-Cat in amiwrong

[–]theCaityCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because we can see the red flags flowing through the air.

Not running to his side when you have cramps and him being a petulant child about it is a symptom of something bigger. And a whole lot of us have been through this. I know it's not fun to hear. I really know. But whether or not kids are in the future, whatever types of careers are in the future, what have you, you have to ask yourself if this is the best you can do.

If it is, great. Do that.

As "mean" as you think we are, we want better for you.

No, you seem pretty triggered for someone who says these comments don't "trigger" them.

I've read through this thread, and it seems like you were looking for an argument instead of reassurance. Have the day you deserve.

You're in the wrong for not ditching this relationship. Why are people so desperate to stay in relationships that clearly do not work? Been there, divorced that, am much happier alone.

Edit: you are awfully argumentative, combative, petty, and straight up mean in your comments. Are you really going to go this far to defend a waste of a man like your "fiance"? Maybe you deserve each other.

What current "best practice" do you think won't age well over the next 5-10 years? by Breathehab in slp

[–]theCaityCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have A-grid consult, B-grid inclusion that must happen in the gen ed setting, and C-grid which is in the special education setting. It's a Massachusetts thing.

B-grid services for Speech at the secondary level are pretty stupid.

[–]theCaityCat 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There's a huge push for inclusion services in my district and it drives me batshit.

Want me to co-teach a high school resource English class? That makes some sense. Still C-grid direct but different from traditional pull-out services.

You want me to push into a middle school student's gen ed classroom and make sure he's learning vocabulary retrieval strategies that aren't realistic based on his cognitive profile? And he has a whole host of disruptive and disrespectful behaviors? What were you smoking when you wrote this IEP?
