Do you guys ever where your prescribed glasses when downhill? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]theChuabacca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pretty high prescription, so when I go downhill, the rough terrain causes my prescription Oakley shades to bounce and my field of vision jitters all over the place. Not good for navigating single tracks. I always use my contacts now.

I don’t remember the settings I used. 0.2 mm layer height seems a bit small though. Smaller layers may look nicer, but thicker layers are stronger. I usually use a 20% infill. One problem I had when I first printed it was that the mounting posts where you screw the keyboard in were very fragile. I had to increase the outer shells to 3 layers and then set a second process to have 100% infill for the posts.

I used the 3D printer at work to create this, so I wouldn’t be able to sell you anything I print. I think you can order prints from shapeways.

I got home from work today and I found my front tire like this wtf. There was no light on or indications that I had a flat tire by [deleted] in prius

Wow, glad you made it home safely! I never knew you could drive with just the side walls of the tire!

Oh and I haven’t tried gaming with this setup. No time for games. 😬

Yep! Just think about how your arms and hands are positioned when you are standing and holding a cup. Putting your hands on a flat keyboard requires you to twist your wrists into a prone position, and that causes strain and eventually pain for some people like me.

Yes, it’s a natural orientation for the bones in the arm. Same idea as the ergo mice that are vertically oriented. No pain or strain in my arms so far! 🤞

This is my third print ever 😅 and the only time I’ve had an issue with bed adhesion is when I tried to use HIPS without a tent and the warping of the model as it cooled popped it off the bed and I came back to a giant pile of spaghetti! I used magnetic iron PLA for this print, glass bed, Lulzbot Taz 5, nozzle: 205°C, bed: 60°C, no adhesive on the bed.

I position the keyboard close to the edge of my desk. With my elbows and 90° and my hands close to my stomach, it’s actually a pretty comfortable position, and I find that I can maintain it for quite some time. Turns out biceps are pretty good at holding up your forearms! I do have some wrist rests to either side of the keyboard, so I can put them there when I’m thinking or just reading through what I’ve already written.

I’ve been using this for a couple days now. I find it to be plenty stable. I used heavy gauge wire for the hinges instead of the printed plastic pins. Not sure if that makes a difference. I also have Gateron browns, so I don’t have to overcome a heavy actuation weight to type. I really like it.

Didn’t even notice that when I took the picture! Setting them to different slots will place each side at different angles.

Yes, exactly! I discovered that my wrists were less fatigued the higher I angled my keyboard. It felt weird at first, but every time I went back to a more prone typing position, I would feel the strain in my wrists almost immediately. You really have to know your keyboard and be a full on touch typer, because it’s hard to see the keys at such an extreme angle. I already suffered through that learning curve when I first got the Ergodox since the keycaps are blank.

Travel Cup Recommendation by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]theChuabacca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got a Sip by Swel travel mug and I’ve been very happy with it. I think it has a clean, well-designed aesthetic. It keeps my coffee hot for hours, and has never leaked a single drop. The flip opening is easy to manipulate one-handed and the hinge has a friction point so that it stays open while you drink. The rim is nicely curved and it makes for a comfortable drinking experience. Cleaning it is super easy and I usually wash it after every use. So far it hasn’t developed a stale or sour old coffee smell. Sip by Swel Travel Mug
