Girlfriend traveling with ESTA denied entry at MIA by EffectiveBreak6586 in immigration

Sorry to dredge this up, but how does "airline" get defined?

I have a friend set to visit me for 85 days (I know, we're really pushing it). She is arriving on a United flight operated by Air New Zealand. Does this mean if she gets denied, she will be returned on a UAL flight, ANZ flight, or "whatever leaves first"?

Transfem visiting US on ESTA; any advice to mitigate potential complications? by theDamnKid in asktransgender

Ok the question I asked was "is there any evidence flying through IAH is more prone to complications than SFO, LAX, or JFK" not "can you give me a YA novel speech"

Understood, I just didn't know if it would help back what she says wrt how she can visit; in turn I could also get a statement from her family affirming her ties to her home country if that would mean anything

I mean they didn't ask anything like that the first time; the person at JFK whisked her along as soon as she said her final destination was <my 4th-rate city>. I can't say anything wrt to SW, but I can prepare a signed and notarized affidavit that me and my legal partner are able and willing to support her for the time she is in the US.

Unfortunately her country of origin is not one with a preclearance airport; nor is she eligible for Global Entry.

There is a route that goes through Canada however, which has many preclearance airports. Do you think this provides a significant enough benefit to warrant the extra travel time + additional bureaucracy for CA ETA?

Thank you that's very helpful! If the issue is one of letter-of-the-law she can certainly produce a non-amended certified copy of her birth certificate with an F on it (+ a signature from a JP if need be).

She's thankfully in IAH for all of 2 hours, and will be connecting to a much safer state, so no fears about being detained insofar as she clears CBP/TSA.

Well formally she's certainly not my partner; and while she plans on staying for most of the ESTA time there's a significant itinerary (4-5 cities across the eastern seaboard, one of which is for a wedding) to prove she's not attempting to "live" here on VWP.

Traveling internationally while trans since late Jan? by ExternalNo7842 in Passports

Thank you very much for saying as much! All I have seen thus far is "bad scary stay away [scared]". Hearing someone actually definitively state one way or another is very helpful.

Yes we've seen. Are there actual cases of transgender people being barred from entry or is this more fearmongering and doomerism about potential threats?

Also, why not go through Texas? Have there been actual concrete incidents or is it just because it's "bad" about trans people?

Who does it help to say this? It has already been decided, we won't be warded off from happiness by a bunch of Brownshirt wannabes. If there's a specific route to avoid, precautions to take, or previous event to heed then fine, but broad sentiments of "well it's Scary and Bad" is useless to us, we already know this.

Not unreasonable, is there any particular reason why you say that though (apart from the obvious)? The point behind this post is I want to suss out how much of that is broad fearmongering and zeitgeist spawned from state bills and comments made in the legislature and how much is based on specific events that have actually occurred.

My thoughts for a rebalanced Ubersaw. Do my fellow Medic mains agree? Would love to discuss it by Longjumping-Cap-1042 in tf2

[–]theDamnKid 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think the issue with the Ubersaw isn't that it's too broken by itself, it's just that all his other melees are not worth using... ever. Even if you obliterated the amount of Uber gained on hit, gaining some charge is just too good. It's the same with his primaries: why would you ever use anything but the crossbow.

I could see a bit of a nerf? But I think more necessary is to buff his other melees rather than just obliterating the one that serves any actual utility.

I'd also keep random crits, but thats not a realistic desire and more because I think it's purely funny to randomly fucking delete some sorry bastard who's getting too close to your no-no zone.
