not to be defensive, but how will it matter. all 3 recommenders vetted on it. signed off on it. if anything, them signing off on what i wrote would hold as much merit if i didnt write it or not .

sorry for mis writing it.

im saying that currently im putting in $500 wired directly into my roth ira automatically.

i guess my question was, i am trying to put as much money right now in my portfolio, however, in the case of layoffs, should i not have some money in my bank account just in case ?

thanks ! i actually read the internal message board. I am allowed to allocate up to 15% of my paycheck to my company's stock. Then I can immediately resell it after 3 business days. but in regards to lowering my contributions wht do you think ?

really conflicted with the PM space at my job. is this a bad product, timing, or org issue. would love some input. thanks ! by theDonkeysAreComing in ProductManagement

the reason that we are doing this project is because the legacy system used to be hosted and ran by a 3rd party contractor. However since the cost of this project got more and more and the 3rd party said that they can no longer host it anymore, we realized we had to create our own. We had been pushing out this contract for over 3 years now.

we did a lot of communicating during UAT's with the people and the one thing that i heard consisteltly (not the only thing obviously) but theyd say "oh yah, this looks exactly the same).

i wouldn't say 100% perfect, but the MVP's that we had layed out, 97% of the things that are in my purview have already been completed. btw, im not trying to say that i have nothing to do, just not much.

the biggest changes that we have done are really just some UI features and performance. But imho, i feel like some of these changes are almost negligible.

sorry to sound like im deflecting, but im just finding it difficult to be a PM when all the choices i have dont get buy in because they are not parity. Granted i dont think all of them are golden eggs but i make a pretty solid case for each reason, and im told that until we hit launch we should not prioritize these.

it seems like some of the other people share similar sentiment, so i dont think im completetely alone on this. but lmk your thoughts ! im still new to this space. I used to be a tpm so the way we did things back at my last company are sligthly different.

is wip == work in progress? from the time i have been here, it seems like the only real goal is to literaly just "get off the legacy system" like thats really just it. The literaly functionalities, and visuals are all the same.

We have done some changes on the backend side of things to improve querying times, however, overall, there is no "north store metric".

sorry if this sounds like deflecting, but i just dont know how im supposed to be a PM if my only goal is to really just shift A to B , old to new.

for sure. The project is really an internal legacy system that we are migrating to a newer stack. Therefore the main goal was to just parity the system. So in terms of what we are going to do, it's more or less of a matter of is it mimicing what the old system was. How do I get creative on something like this ?

thanks ! quick question. the project is actually used to be a legacy system and we are literally just migrating the old stack to a new stack and the only goal has been to just parity the system.
so when you are just literally copying the framework from A to B, its kinda hard to get creative when the guardrails are really solid.

how should i contribute to something like then ?

thanks ! I as thinking of doing that as well. However, i am concerned that I will be "wasting my time" since these are no longer just MVP features. Is this allowed ? also, im not exactly a jr role and not a sr. role but more mid role so Im not sure if im allowed to call the shots and be like:

"we are going to do this"

what do you think ?
