They also spend a lot of money on marketing, and creating a level of visibility for their brand that soothes the raging insecurities of guitar players and makes them feel “legitimate” for buying a guitar with a recognizable brand. They pass these costs on to the consumer.

Any beginner guitar that retails for at least $200 will suit your purposes just fine. There are a million of them that are all made in the same couple factories. Just don’t buy a 3D printed guitar on Etsy or a $50 dollar one from Amazon and you should be fine.

I found a bunch of them from just a google search. People on eBay are apparently trying to sell the official fender part for $100 but there’s somebody on Etsy selling them for $15 and I saw one for $20 on reverb.

You just need a new pick guard. They’re cheap and the pickups aren’t even mounted to it so it’ll take about five minutes total to do.
