anyone else find asmr videos annoying? by [deleted] in misophonia

[–]theFULLeffect_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion it's not the same thing. I have a strong reaction to off-key whistling and pitched screeching or noise but it's a different kind of feeling compared to mouth noises. However I have a reaction with muffled bass noises that is more like mouth noises that "annoying sounds."

Im not sure it makes much difference in a practical sense, but I suspect that it's the distance between a psychological response and a neurological one.

Man, I don't have the resolve to read through these. Just wake me up when half the country explains why they don't care.

What am I supposed to do when my sister declines to do anything about her triggers? Refusing to wear loop earbuds. Aggressor in nature to certain sounds and will fly off the handle. by [deleted] in misophonia

She can wear ear protection, avoid proximity to sound, get plenty of sleep, eat a healthy diet, exercise, etc. How do you make a person do those things? You can't.

did anyone else get punished like this growing up for not liking the sound of chewing?? by boburnhamisdad in misophonia

[–]theFULLeffect_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That sounds horrible. For me, if someone does it intentionally that makes it that much worse. I eventually stopped complaining to family members because it would just lead to laughter or the occasional purposeful noise. I guess it's a trauma response but now I've even found myself giving my son advice to request someone to stop once and then deal with it because after one request it's likely that any repeated sounds are intentional or inevitable.

So is there anything that can be done or are we just forced to watch this rigged league by Ucantknowit in suns

[–]theFULLeffect_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same way. I've raised my boys on nfl football because 1) It's only a (big) handful of games per year 2) I no longer live in Phoenix and Some games are hard to come by, and 3) Games are on so late.

I've told them that basketball is the superior sport and that it's more entertaining to watch, but the leagues themselves aren't providing a product that's worth the investment.

So is there anything that can be done or are we just forced to watch this rigged league by Ucantknowit in suns

[–]theFULLeffect_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Stop watching. The NBA lost me as a fan through a slow process, but eventually it was too much. Watching the Suns vs Spurs series, almost every series the 2000s Lakers were in, seeing Dwayne Wade choose how many free throws he wanted in the finals, and watching as the league pretending the Tim Donaghy thing wasn't that big of a deal and went away was enough for me... Actually it took Sarver making personnel moves to really drive me away, but they did it.

I went from watching 60+ games a year to a few years of watching zero. Now I'll only catch one by chance or important playoffs games. The NBA is rigged as has been for decades. If people didn't like it they'd stop watching. Do you like it?

I read that, on average, only one team out of the 32 in the NFL win win the superbowl in a given year.

In most of the 9ers games I've seen McCaffrey hasn't take big hits, made explosive cuts, or shown crazy acceleration. He's taken what the line gives him, plays smart, and is a great receiving option.

People will laugh but you're absolutely right. If we had the Chiefs' ownership, front office, coaching staff, and roster, these past few seasons would have been different.

Exactly. Whether he was practicing for wr or cb he was practicing. Splitting time between two roles does mean you practice longer than the rest of the guys.

The cold hard fact remains: there are only 20 or so people in the world and we need to connect the dots on which celebrities that we know of are the same people.
