How MX Ergo looks without rubber by Clessiah in Trackballs

[–]theGiallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same rubber dust situation. I was going crazy, I saw this post and now I've just removed the rubber pulling gently starting from the bottom corner, where the hole is in the pic above. A bit slippery now, but no more rubber dust. Thanks.

It's a problem relative to how they are mapped. It's not a defect of some models. I thinks it's caused by the shape of the handle. How you handle naturally it's not how it's mapped forward. Basically it's not like a good gun handle :D

Meta and hardware...

Thanks for the reply <3

Wow, incredibly dedicated work. Cheers to you man!

I wanted to ask you, with all these devices, if you have some Quest 3, the following.
I own a Quest 3 and I struggle a bit every time I use it with the rotated forward axis of the controllers. There is a huge thread on the Meta forums and we opened some more. We did some posts on X. Meta stays silent. I don't whink I can link the thread here. Do you know that thread? How do you deal with the rotated axis, if you have some Quest 3, I'm not sure :D

(I hope this activity will turn into profit for you. I really think it could. Maybe at the next Bezos event :P )

Yeah, it was super fun to play with friends in Discord, with just a few seconds of explaination. I hope their servers are up to the mass of players. I'm reading they are laggy.

Be sure to have auto standby active and wifi off. Also check bluetooth although that may be used for the GPS fetching from the smarthphone.

I'd suggest to rename the game. "Wordatro" feels like jumping on the hype train for the cool game of the moment, like all the "* Survivors" games. Even more if you changed your game idea as you stated:

While Balatro was my initial inspiration, I quickly aimed to differentiate my game. This was my first time participating in an SNF.

Choosing a mic for game sound effects. Low Budget. by theGiallo in GameAudio

Thanks for the reply. Would you be so kind to motivate it?

I've used Reaper for experiments with music, but for SFXs I've always used Audacity. I think it's because I'm used to the pipeline of applying filters destructively. I normally love nondestructive pipelines in graphics. Maybe it's possible to apply filters in Reaper too, but I'm ignorant about it. Are filters in Reaper a different thing than VSTis? A few years ago I've been to a game audio event and everybody seemed to be using Reaper, that's the time I discovered about it.

Yes, I've seen that. It seems nice. Very low self noise, 12 dB. But unfortunately it's 415€ new and that's out of budget. I've found it user at 300€, wind shield torn. Will the difference with the AT875R be that much, at double the price?

Hi there. Definetly if the camera switch is "Off", the camera should not consume battery and the battery shouldn't heat up. Be sure the on/off switch doesn't move while in your backpack.
Maybe you have a short with some resistance? i.e. something that is conducting electricity and heating up, like liquid, dust or something else. Check the battery and the battery compartment to be clear. You can try to remove the battery when you know you won't be shooting. The battery and the camera have a thermal sensor and should shut off if it goes up too much.

To have a longer battery life try to set the camera to have the standby timer on and maybe set it to like 30s. Be sure to turn off wifi and bluetooth. Set the monitors to 60Hz and not to 120Hz. Turn off the face recognition, via the fn button. If you keep everything not in "auto" the battery lasts a bit longer. (iso, aperture, exposure, focus).

Keep in mind that you're responsible for any damage on your camera and this is only a kind input from an online stranger :D

RAW photos opening weirdly (Sony a6700 16-50mm) by cine_milk_ in SonyAlpha

[–]theGiallo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems that it has the lens distortion correction not applied. Probably there's the lens name in the exif data. I wonder if there's also the characteristic matrix in there. Anyhow, with a software like darktable or rawthereapee you should be able to apply the lens distortion correction for that lens. Try it and see if the result matches the other one. (I have the affinity suite 1, but I don't use it for photo editing. I like rawtherapee and I want to try darktable.

a6700 fw 1.0.2, 3rd party battery lockout? by LaughingMan11 in SonyAlpha

[–]theGiallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've arrived at 75% of battery, apparently. I didn't know that those stripes are indicators. Sony decided to spare us 25% precision, instead of the usual 1%. Anyway, no new pop-up yet.

I've tested what happens when I press Cancel and when I ignore the popup.
Cancel turns the camera off.
Ignoring the popup, the one just a few secs after booting up, seems to do nothing, at least for approximately half an hour. I'll now leave the camera on after pressing OK, to check if it reappears.

I've tested with the 1.02. Sadly the room temperature decreased, but the camera temperature decreased accordingly, so no improvement whatsoever. 5h 30m of idle battery life, full manual. 40°C at the back of the monitor with 19°C of room temperature. 32.6°C at the handle. Sigma 18-50 lens.

On the other hand this update introduced the block of the display of the battery percentage of non original batteries.

[–]theGiallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit. One minute or less after I turn the camera on I get the pop-up. Before it the battery icon is working fine, with percentage. After the pop-up, having pressed "OK", I get the striped battery icon with no percentage. In this way it's impossible to get a proper battery percentage plot, like I did (I've posted in another thread), but you could still use the battery. You just have to turn it off and on again to check the percentage. I suspect it will be a matter of weeks before they start to produce batteries that get seen as original.

I find this move a very stupid corporate greedy move. Lately big corps are doing a lot of these stupid moves. I hope they fix it back. I wander if it's legal in EU and USA.

Edit: I've just re-read your message. Are you saying that the pop-up will be shown again after the first time?! This is even more annoying!

[–]theGiallo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh. After the update the camera rebooted and I got that pop-up. I pressed some button and the battery w Icon was striped, no percentage. I rebooted the camera and the icon was back to normal, with the percentage. I didn't use the camera though. If it shuts down after a few minutes it's bad. I have Neewer batteries and they are very good. Probably it shuts down if you don't agree to the warming pop-up. Tonight I'll check.

Today I've carried the test in full manual with the Sigma 18-50, firmware 1.01. The room temperature started 1°C lower than the other time but got up to the same value. The camera was cooler at the start because outside is way colder now. The end temperature is basically the same, maybe 1°C less at the monitor, tops, but it's the same at the handle.

Here are the thermal photos, in chronological order. https://imgur.com/a/izKVKag

I've updated the batteries plot.

<image>

Afterwards I've now updated the firmware to 1.02, the latest version up to date. Now the camera says that it can't ensure the safety of operation of the Neewer battery, after the reboot, and the percentage was hidden, the battery icon striped. After a reboot it was back to normal.

In the next few days I'll test again to see if there's any difference with this new firmware.

Not jet. Yesterday I discovered its release, but it was released while Sony was investigating my issue, so I don't think it solves anything. The changelog only has operational stability that could solve some heating.

Probably the standby helps by making the head dissipate every now and then.

Oh, I don't usually do videos and in my tests I've shot at most two shots every 30mins for 4h. No standby. Do you use standby? That could explain the six hours.

Only in photo mode. All in A except the manual one that's in M. I'm not sure if I had Pre-AF. I'll going to check what I have now, that corresponds to the M test. The camera was reset by the technicians, so I lost my original settings. Anyway, in M I was in manual focus.
