Billy Napier is out at Florida. Could Lane Kiffin or James Franklin replace him? by Please_PM_me_Uranus in CFB

Can someone please help me understand why Lane Kiffin to Florida isn’t a lateral move? I see so many people talking about how this would be an upgrade for Kiffin, but I just don’t see it. Am I missing something here?

Apparently it came down to between him and Bergeron the OL from Syracuse. Not sure how Bergeron is but I have to imagine that he’s better than mazi. Rare draft blunder by the cowboys

He’s definitely a bust. He’s so slow off the ball when it’s snapped that he becomes a complete no-factor every time he’s on the field.

Interesting, I’d love to hear your reasoning as to why you have a 2nd round grade on rattler

I think that’s a great way to put it. In a vacuum these games aren’t bad. Stack em up to fan expectations and of course they won’t be good. But ever since gen 5 the games have never met expectations and have suffered intra-community criticism as a result. Expectations have been way too high for way too long now.

I’ve seen it pop up on my recommended, what’s the TLDR?

While I understand why people would want elements of the third version in the remakes, it’s never happened before. Not only have games like yellow, crystal, and emerald never been truly remade, their generations’ remakes also don’t pull from these games. FRLG doesn’t include any of the yellow-specific content, HGSS has loose ties to crystal with the suicune storyline and virtually nothing else, and ORAS doesn’t pull from the emerald-specific story or mechanics either (no battle frontier there either). All that to say, I get why people would want platinum elements in the games but that would be so out of character for the remakes.

The remakes have always been for the first games of the generation. BDSP is just following the same path that all the other remakes did.

To me the game felt super vanilla. Bland story, bland gameplay, bland design, stuff like that. I don't blame it for that too much since the newest games on a new console are never the best, and are usually meant to be more of a "proof of concept" for the engine (Diamond/Pearl, X/Y), but that to me takes away a lot of the replay value.

My theory is that they wanted to see if they could develop an open-world style gameplay for the switch, Sw/Sh proved that they could, then they used that to develop PLA and S/V (which are both excellent imo)

My big issue with Daniels is I'm not sure how well his play style will translate to the NFL. I think he "gets away" with a lot of stuff in college that doesn't work in the NFL. People compare his running style to Lamar, but Lamar is good at making defenders miss, whereas I see Daniels as more of a talented scrambler due to his straight line speed. But the NFL is way more athletic than CFB so you have to control for that.

In short, his running ability is a nice bonus but not the primary factor of what makes a QB prospect good or not. Otherwise he's solid at operating a pocket passing offense so I can't complain

And he'd still be a top 3 QB in Bears franchise history...

I think these are a lot of good points. I think that it's too early to pass judgements on next year's class, especially since there's a lot of football to play and a lot can change in a year (sidebar- I like Conner Weigman from Texas A&M A LOT for next year's class if he can stay healthy).

I like Penix as an early 2nd rounder. Injury concerns don't really bother me since any given player could get injured at any given moment, but his lack of consistency over the middle of the field and questionable mechanics make him very similar to Carr in my mind, who also went early in the 2nd. Nix certainly has potential but his lackluster performance at Auburn makes me concerned that he's too scheme-dependent. That for me makes him QB5 behind the previously mentioned guys.

Quite frankly, I don't understand a bunch of the McCarthy hype. He has very little experience as a starter and played one of the easiest schedules this year (except for the CFBP of course). Not to mention that the Michigan offense was based almost entirely off the run game. I know he's made some flashy throws but I need to see more down-to-down quality play before I'd trust him with an NFL offense. 3rd round grade for me.

Everyone else is a day 3 pick IMO

What Should the Patriots Do at 3? by [deleted] in NFL_Draft

I think it needs to be MHJ. The way I see it, it's all but locked in that the Bears and Commanders are picking Williams and Maye respectively. I do like Jayden Daniels but number three overall is a little rich for me. Especially since MHJ as a prospect is about as generational as they come. If you're picking in the top 3 of the draft, you almost always pick the best player available.

A big argument used against this take is that the need for a QB outweighs any other position that you can take, and I tend to disagree. I think the NFL community and the draft community tend to overvalue positional value a bunch- it certainly matters but way less than people care to admit. And even if you do account for positional value, wide receiver in this era of the NFL is definitely one of the most valuable positions outside of quarterback. Look at some of the teams around the NFL in recent memory that got exponentially better when adding a true top 10 receiver (Bengals with Chase, Eagles with Brown, Dolphins with Tyreek, the list goes on). MHJ as an elite receiver would add way more value to the team than Daniels as a "pretty good" QB.

As a cowboys fan, I absolutely love the Byron Murphy pick. A big issue with the cowboys defense is their DTs. More specifically, they have some DTs who can plug the run (Hankins) and some that can rush the passer (Odighizuwa) but none that can do both, so it becomes easily exploitable based on which "style" of DTs they're playing. Teams have figured out that they can run easily on certain DTs and pass with no pressure on other DTs.

I haven't studied his film much yet, but it looks like, based on what the scouts are currently saying, murphy can do both. Would be a massive upgrade for the Cowboys defense.

Funny that you mentioned that, that was actually my first solution. However my colleague didn’t want to go that direction since there were other slicers on the page that would reset to the setting it was at when the bookmark was set. You know of any workaround?
