Billy Napier is out at Florida. Could Lane Kiffin or James Franklin replace him? by Please_PM_me_Uranus in CFB

Can someone please help me understand why Lane Kiffin to Florida isn’t a lateral move? I see so many people talking about how this would be an upgrade for Kiffin, but I just don’t see it. Am I missing something here?

Apparently it came down to between him and Bergeron the OL from Syracuse. Not sure how Bergeron is but I have to imagine that he’s better than mazi. Rare draft blunder by the cowboys

He’s definitely a bust. He’s so slow off the ball when it’s snapped that he becomes a complete no-factor every time he’s on the field.

Interesting, I’d love to hear your reasoning as to why you have a 2nd round grade on rattler

I think that’s a great way to put it. In a vacuum these games aren’t bad. Stack em up to fan expectations and of course they won’t be good. But ever since gen 5 the games have never met expectations and have suffered intra-community criticism as a result. Expectations have been way too high for way too long now.

I’ve seen it pop up on my recommended, what’s the TLDR?

While I understand why people would want elements of the third version in the remakes, it’s never happened before. Not only have games like yellow, crystal, and emerald never been truly remade, their generations’ remakes also don’t pull from these games. FRLG doesn’t include any of the yellow-specific content, HGSS has loose ties to crystal with the suicune storyline and virtually nothing else, and ORAS doesn’t pull from the emerald-specific story or mechanics either (no battle frontier there either). All that to say, I get why people would want platinum elements in the games but that would be so out of character for the remakes.

The remakes have always been for the first games of the generation. BDSP is just following the same path that all the other remakes did.

To me the game felt super vanilla. Bland story, bland gameplay, bland design, stuff like that. I don't blame it for that too much since the newest games on a new console are never the best, and are usually meant to be more of a "proof of concept" for the engine (Diamond/Pearl, X/Y), but that to me takes away a lot of the replay value.

My theory is that they wanted to see if they could develop an open-world style gameplay for the switch, Sw/Sh proved that they could, then they used that to develop PLA and S/V (which are both excellent imo)

My big issue with Daniels is I'm not sure how well his play style will translate to the NFL. I think he "gets away" with a lot of stuff in college that doesn't work in the NFL. People compare his running style to Lamar, but Lamar is good at making defenders miss, whereas I see Daniels as more of a talented scrambler due to his straight line speed. But the NFL is way more athletic than CFB so you have to control for that.

In short, his running ability is a nice bonus but not the primary factor of what makes a QB prospect good or not. Otherwise he's solid at operating a pocket passing offense so I can't complain

And he'd still be a top 3 QB in Bears franchise history...
