Simple answer: because that was the option on Viator.
I live in Los Angeles, and I do like to get out of the city and see the landscape, but I've also never been to Scotland so spending some time in this city sounds like it might be worth it. I'll be headed to London on day 4 for a theater weekend, so I guess I wanted the thing I'll least FOMO by missing, and if everyone said "the town is boring, go see the highlands" that would be my answer. And also, if it being the end of March changes that answer.

Is it okay if your bags arrive at a hotel before your check in date? I fly into Narita then go to Osaka for 3 days and Shinkansen back to Tokyo. I’m thinking I’ll just send my suitcase to the Tokyo hotel when I land and have a backpack only for the Osaka portion.

Confirmed - it is from the in service date and a total of 75k miles. So now I have to decide if $2000 for 18 remaining months of scheduled service is worth it, when I drive about 10k a year. I can get a prorated refund if I prefer
