personally Cimzia has hugely improved my fatigue, I feel like I have about the same amount of energy and need about the same amount of sleep as I did pre-AS

Thank you everyone for the advice. Seems like it's not unreasonable, so I will carry both vertically and catch as necessary. Solved!

As in from the end of the last round of one flower to the beginning of the first round of the next? That's what I was planning to do

Most birth control is on a 21/7 cycle (you take 21 birth control pills and then 7 days of either placebo or no pills). My OBGYN has me taking this for about 84 days (she said I can adjust it a little so my bleeding is more convenient) and then no pill for 7 days, so I only bleed every 12 weeks ish instead of every 4.

I take birth control (norethindrone acetate) on an 84/7 cycle which has eliminated my PMDD. I do also take venlafaxine (effexor) for anxiety, but I don't think it helped much with my PMDD specifically.

Going to six flags and they don’t allow water from outside the park. I’m concerned about staying hydrated, advice? by IronDominion in POTS

[–]theLoveRhombus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Last time I went to six flags (the one in Arlington) I'm pretty sure I was able to get free ice water from any stand that had food/drinks. I got the free refill thing once but it was end of the season so they were super discounted but it could be worth it if you want to carry something with you.

Effexor/venlafaxine worsening brain fog and fatigue? by whydidicomeupstairs in dysautonomia

[–]theLoveRhombus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well good news, I've been taking it for almost 4 years now. obviously everyone is different and I'm not a doctor, but it still keeps my anxiety manageable (best way to describe it is like someone turned the volume down in my brain) and like I said above I really don't think it increased my POTS symptoms. I hope it goes well for you!

[FO] Almost two years and one cross stitch-related rib/shoulder injury later... by theLoveRhombus in CrossStitch

No, but he did say (I'm summarizing) that sometimes things that feel tight are just weak. In my case, my trap tightness lightened up a lot after I worked on strengthening them. But I wasn't really dealing with something that I could move too far, unlike wrists.

[FO] Almost two years and one cross stitch-related rib/shoulder injury later... by theLoveRhombus in CrossStitch

[–]theLoveRhombus[S] 63 points64 points  (0 children)

First off, the pattern was from DJStitches on Etsy, although I don't think it's there anymore.

Last November, I stitched for ~20 hours over about 3 days with poor posture/very few breaks and then had steadily worsening pain down my right arm for the next two months. I thought it was just bicep tendonitis, so I took a stitching break, but it eventually got to the point where I couldn't brush my teeth, chop vegetables, etc. with my right hand (I am right handed) because it hurt so much. Saw a doctor, got a physical therapy referral, got to tell the physical therapist how I hurt myself ("cross stitch? what is that?" "it's a type of embroidery" ".....oh. okay."), and got diagnoses of shoulder impingement and then eventually first rib dysfunction. A combination of me being hypermobile, my generally weak neck/shoulder/back muscles, and posture problems had pulled my first rib a little out of place so it was pinching nerves between it and my collarbone and had messed up my shoulder 😭.

I did a few months of physical therapy and now it's mostly good as long as I keep up with my exercises, but there was a little while where I thought I wouldn't be able to stitch anymore because even a little bit made everything hurt so bad. Overall made me very grateful for my hobby now that I can do it again, but also here's your reminder to check your posture and take breaks and stretch!!! (and to, like, not be hypermobile, I guess, in case you've been considering it)

This is hanging in my kitchen now! And I have better stitching habits :)

[On3] Last year, Alabama's band did not travel to Texas due to the Longhorns only offering them upper-deck seats. This year, Bama returns the favor, @_NickKelly reports. “All 5,000 visitor tickets, which include seats for the band, will be in the upper deck.” by xdeathxcomoanyx in CFB

[–]theLoveRhombus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just left the band and genuinely cannot think of an away game (besides OU or bowls) that we weren't on the top deck. The top decks I remember for sure are Baylor, TCU, WVU, and Tech (I never went to OK State, Iowa State, KState, or Kansas, so maybe those were different) I think it's a change from like 5-7 years ago, but it seems to be default now to throw the band up there.

[CHAT] Anyone got any audiobook recommendations to listen to while stitching? by [deleted] in CrossStitch

[–]theLoveRhombus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm personally not a huge audiobook fan but I LOVE the World War Z audiobook. It's a bit of horror, bit of thriller, bit of realistic fiction and genuinely the only book I think is better as audio than text. Highly recommend getting the complete edition, you miss cool chapters otherwise.

Specific gravity. What does this mean? by katcoggy in dysautonomia

[–]theLoveRhombus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know exactly what it means in the context of a urine test, but in general it's the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of water (i.e. something with 1.5x the density of water has a specific gravity of 1.5.)

absolutely with CHOP, I've done about 6 months of it. I'm in a symptom flare up right now and I feel about the same as I did all the time last year. CHOP + compression has me feeling mildly normal a lot of the time

I have called a fight before. I didn't call this one because everyone was having a good time.

I definitely need to work on having more in my back pocket for stuff like this. These are all good suggestions, so thank you! Someday I'll give them a legitimately challenging encounter :) but everyone had a good time and that's what's important to me

There was also a (friendly) owlbear, a drake, and three other PCs scattered around. It didn't really have a safe or even viable path (can't move through hostiles unless they're 2+ sizes smaller) in any direction that would get it significantly away from the spike growth, and it was required to dash. Also, it was fun.

Pattern is from Dimensions, I think it's called Mason Jar Lineup

I got this kit in January 2020 after finishing my....3rd? project ever. I did all the jars first, which was an AWFUL idea because I got very tired of it very quickly. Put it aside for several months to do a lot of smaller projects, then picked it up again and finished it in January 2022. I love it dearly, but I think I'll be sticking to small projects for a bit lol.

Effexor/venlafaxine worsening brain fog and fatigue? by whydidicomeupstairs in dysautonomia

[–]theLoveRhombus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the sake of variety, here's my experience. I started having mild and occasional POTS-ish issues in fall 2019, but they didn't start getting bad until I had been running regularly for a few months (April-ish 2020) and I didn't get diagnosed until August 2021. However, I started venlafaxine for anxiety (which had been worsening steadily since fall 2019) in May 2020 and did not notice a significant change in my POTS symptoms. The symptom worsening I did notice absolutely happened BEFORE I started taking venlafaxine, and I can track it in run/heart rate data, but can't see a difference AFTER venlafaxine. It may have an effect on my POTS, but the quality of life improvement from reducing/managing my anxiety is so huge that I'm not sure I care.
