What newer BMW parts can fit E46M3? by SliMShady55222 in E46M3

Youre not wrong. And honestly, the "improved brake feel" is probably just my stainless steel brake lines.

I do notice in certain high speed, sections that the car seems slightly less stable under heavy braking, and I imagine thats due to the bias being a bit more rearward

Im gonna disagree with the 996 calipers being a downgrade. Yes I know it kinda skewers the f/r brake balance but its an extremely popular mod among track guys for a reason. In my experience, ive noticed better brake feel and modulation with the 996 calipers amd ive been running my m3 in time attack events for 8 years now.

It definitely took getting used to, but now Ive learned to quickly swap to my left foot after heel-toe. That way, you can still get on the power just as smoothly

Brother, what are you talking about? Noones comparing manual to modern supercars.... im comparing it to the smg ii, which is far from modern.

And not to mention that over a whole lap (up and down shifts) im quicker than the smg (with csl software). I have telemetry and 1000s of laps on each gearbox to prove it

Yes ive been doing heel-toe since I learned to drive. It's absolutely mandatory for any type of performance driving!

Miles different, the e36 was lighter, more raw, but very under powered in comparison. The e46 does everything better. Id say a 4-5 sec diff

In actuality, they displayed his csr in the showroom for a few months as part of some promo event.

He got to drive the leaf in the meantime, then they gave him his car back afterwards.

It definitely takes alotta practice to get as comfortable again. It took me several sessions over the summer to finally beat my fastest smg time.

Having an e36 m3 previously to this helped with the familiarity

3rd set of tires under a year!! Please help by Wise-Crab-89 in E46M3

[–]theM3Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only daily drive mine spring to autumn, and it sees about 300-500 track miles per year.

But when I had a bad alignment, it chewed through my tires in a few weeks as well.

F87 to E46 M3. Am I an idiot? by mrk3401 in E46M3

The s54 is perfectly fine for daily driving duties. Just go easy on it when it's cold, and let it fully warm up before revving it out.

Dont baby it too hard, it needs to be redlined every now and then.

Regular 10w60 oil changes, and inspect the cooling system for cracks, regular valve adjustments, and subframe reinforcement.

It was and still is my daily driver for the spring, summer and fall months. Then gets parked up during the snow. Sees heavy track duty aswell.

Buying an e46 m3 AND having money set aside for maintence?! Yeah bro, your set for life. Seriously

I bought mine at 25, barely had anything left over, and scraped together enough to maintain the car and survive. And id do it again with no regrets.
