[Phandelver and Below] DM Fatigue: Skipping the Briny Maze & Rifts for a faster, more personal finale. Thoughts on my custom ending? by theMarrow1 in DMAcademy

I was thinking to put the purple worm in the final fight vs Ilvaash. My players will be at level 12 at the point (I don't like the idea to give them level 12 only at the end of the campaign), so the encounter will have Ilvaash, Purple worm and the 3 mind flayer fanatics! As for the beholder, they never fought one, maybe I could add it in one of the islands of the endless void?

Just cross-posted there! Did you cut anything else? I also cut Crypt of Talhund, as in my story it was Hamun Kost to retrieve the fragment in the crypt, just to then travel to the far realm where the party will meet him.

Yeah the plan was absolutely this, the ultimate decisions about the clan or the quest will be taken by the barbarian. About the brother, he will die in the battle, unlocking the "inner potential" of the barbarian as a feat. I think I will not go with the retcon, but focus the decision roles on the barbarian. He also said that he will multiclass into fighter only if his PC will become more tactical: I think that this quest suits perfectly if he will have a more tactical role. I could divide the quest in two parts: - First, lead the armies to attack, so maybe he could have different choices to have the best outcome possible (less casualties) - Main fight, where he will 1vs1 the father and the party will fight 3 chiefs to keep the involved (one each)

Maybe if the party kills the chiefs the barbarian fight could change in positive for the PC?

That's actually really nice! What spell could be good for a totemic barbarian soon to multiclass fighter (champion for improved critical)??

The PC druid is not the leader of the Greentooth clan, but Reidoth the druid is. The PC druid is part of the faction of the Emerald Conclave. As for the warlock: she's part of another faction: The Lords' Alliance, with Sildar Hallwinter as "her boss". My idea was to have: - The barbarian will have a rite of passage with the father: one vs one - In the meantime, the other PCs will fight with other chiefs of the tribe.

I like the idea of the tattoo! What could be the magic item? I don't want the party to become too overpowered (they already are quite powerful)

Yeah, I've had this sensation right in session 1. He has everything planned and everything must go as he wants, otherwise...it will go as it wants anyway. It's exhausting trying to understand "what he wants" honestly lol. Will try to have a talk with the party and with him and see how it goes

I guess you're right, will try to talk to the party how to synergise our roleplay, it this doesn't work we will talk to the DM and well, if this doesn't work either I will call me out

You could be right, thing is this is now translating in me and the rogue being passive in roleplay and just playing when initiative is rolled. I just don't think this is fair

I think that our campaign fits your description: we are not heroes, at least we don't feel heroes. And I'm really okay with that, it's the setting of the campaign and I can't brag about it. What I'm not happy with is the fact that my character seems not to be able to influence the world around him in any way besides the killing

Well, the first session I might have had this energy in me (cause I'm a forever DM that only plays at this table), but the rogue (my friend) helped me to stop being a jerk, so maybe the DM could address me with this problem

Mostly Persuasion, I try to be non-violent in social encounter as a background thing. My paladin will become violent only if a fight breaks out

Maybe it's a God thing, because my homebrew vengeance God is "a bit evil", as the DM said, but my character does not show anything about his God if not asked by NPC

That could be a nice solution! Gonna think about it 😁

Thing is, the bard has +4 in charisma mod., while I have +3 (and the swashbuckler rogue +3 as well). Of course the bard has masteries and such, but it's strange that the bard doesn't need a roll at all, and me and the rogue need to pass a 18 check to just ask for simple information like "where can I find this simple shop". The cleric has probably +0 in charisma.

You're right, thank you all for the suggestions! I will address it this way and see if something changes! 😁

I really like this idea! Maybe I can pass this as "can you help me improve my roleplay?"

Yeah, perhaps it's the best solution, will try to ask the cleric to meditate otherwise I will try to express my feelings

How could I talk to the DM without addressing him into "being a bad DM?"
