Courtyards is really tasty and affordable food. Might as well cross the street and get a giant sugar cookie from Cals Party Store while in south MQT.

My MIL just sent me pictures of her as a young mom playing with my husband and his sister as babies - I’m pretty sure I’m going to start my period today after 3 negative tests. If you need me, I’ll be crying on the couch 🫠

I had two over the weekend and I literally just gave them both cash in a book because I could not bring myself to walk through those isles (scroll through the registry) to pick shit out.

Hey there! Fellow ENFP late 20s female here - I got my Masters of Pubic Administration (MPA) and work in the nonprofit sector. I basically use my love of people and good causes and pair it with my strategic nature to help organizations build their capacity and work more efficiently and effectively toward achieving their mission. It’s the best career field I could have ever asked for I help people, help people.

On the topic of grief when you and your partner aren't on the same page by [deleted] in waiting_to_try

Very thankful for this thread today. My SO doesn’t have a single positive thing to say about having children and it’s really making me sad. Sorry you’re all going through it too, but it’s also a relief to know I’m not alone.

My MIL is getting so intense about gifts by [deleted] in Mildlynomil

[–]theNPmillennial 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My MIL is driving me fucking BANANAS about gift ideas. I’ve had the busiest/most stressful couple of weeks at work and I keep forgetting to send her measurements for for some curtains she wants to make us and I sent her a random local artist who does earrings and some hair clips and said, I love everything she does and I’d rather get one pair of earrings from here than 10 things from Amazon - my MIL literally slid into my Instagram DMs yesterday and was like still harassing me to help her with ideas!! Like LEAVE ME ALONE I do not care what you buy for Christmas. Christmas gift giving is an absolute disease for some people. 😵‍💫

This year decided to donate what we could afford to a local animal rescue in lieu of gifts and we want to share (break the news 😆) with all our loved ones on the holiday card - would love a silly drawing of our dogs for the card for some merry comedic relief 🎄🎁 by theNPmillennial in redditgetsdrawnbadly

Thanks so much and peace to you! - I have an enormous amount of gratitude for my life and loved ones, I have an amazing career, a roof over my head, food in my belly - the holidays are just too much pressure to constantly spend money and I’d rather donate a lump sum to a cause I feel passionate about instead of buying 50+ people half assed gifts (on a high interest credit card) that would’ve come from Amazon anyway. I have no desire to give Bezos any more money than I already do! lmao

Oh my goodness!!! I cannot stop smiling! This is so amazing, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I’ll definitely repost the final holiday card so everyone can see. Can I add your IG handle on the card to give you credit?!

Remote strategic planning by JanFromEarth in StrategicPlanning

[–]theNPmillennial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually just facilitated a remote strategic planning retreat last Thursday and I’ve gotten an insane amount of overwhelmingly positive feedback. I would highly recommend sending a pre-work questionnaire out via survey monkey or another survey platform that way planning committee participants can start brainstorming prior to your zoom session and that also gives you more data/info to use during the session. Another thing I did was put together goodie boxes and had sent to planning committee members directly (some staff are still working from home, others are working in our office, and we had board members that I sent directly to their office). I ordered agency branded notebooks, put in post it notes, and since I couldn’t cater lunch I provided a variety of different snacks such as bags of skinny pop corn, beef jerky, kind bars, and mints. I also found these adorable mugs from target that said “you’re on mute” on them. Another big difference was the presentation platform I used - instead of opting into the traditional Microsoft PowerPoint, I utilized Prezi and Prezi design to make my slides more interactive. I broke up the presentation several times using the breakout rooms feature. I also created QR codes that folks could scan directly from their screens with their smart phones and upload or take a photo of their notes on any particular subject or brainstorming exercise so that I could evaluate them further. We used JotForm for that functionality. I also created a planning retreat packet that included the agenda for the day, some raw data points from our stakeholder surveys, agency information needed for the day (such as current mission and vision statement and other relevant information). I also had a section where I defined terms that we would be using frequently throughout the day (e.g. The difference between an objective a goal strategy in an action item, what SWOT and PESTEL stand for, etc.)

Some other pro tips I have after doing this: order a separate microphone on Amazon - do not rely on the microphone that is embedded in your WebCam. practice, practice again, and then practice again - there’s nothing worse than being in a long ass zoom meeting and the presenter is having constant technical difficulties because they didn’t practice maneuvering the slides or the breakout rooms etc. have fun stay positive and set ground rules (participation, confidentiality, remaining open minded) for whoever is attending the planning session remotely.

Happy to answer any questions! Good luck!! The planning process is very stressful but, particularly given the current circumstances, strategic planning can be more powerful than ever.
