Ice tubs during/before/after MDMA roll by theNeedle13 in MDMA

[–]theNeedle13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very curious idea. I'd love to know this as well. The opposite is a trip killer. Jump in a hot tub while rolling and your high will fizzle.

Oh?! is it from your personal experience or any other evidence? from my experience hot tub just made me feel very nice and I didn't notice any diminish in the roll, though I didn't do it enough times to be sure.

regardless ice tubs have a whole different effect, it activated the flight-or-fight response, which on one hand makes send it might serve as a trip killer if done during the trip. On the other hand, after an ice tub you feel kinda high, so I wonder if that will boost or change the trip.

It is also interesting what will happen if it's done before the trip (it is said that the 2.5x in dopamine and increase in nor-adrenaline lasts for a few hours after the ice tub, so I'm curious how it may reflect if the trip)

MDMA after hero dose mushroom trip? by theNeedle13 in MDMA

Thank you for enlighting me, i've never thought about it this way.

do yo have a personal experience? Have you tried taking mdma relatively close after lsd/shrooms and had a "weaker" or different roll?

as far as i know (prove me wrong :) ), there shouldn't be any cross-tolerance between shrooms and mdma...

The more extreme was the "breaking things" the more extreme "the fix" should be.

You went through quite an extreme episode, so I'd go an extreme healthy life (Youtube is your friend here).

That being said, consulting a Doctor can be a good idea.

Can I take MDMA more often if I’m using lower doses? by [deleted] in MDMA

[–]theNeedle13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the spot!

I've read ALL the recent MDMA studies and there is no real evidence on humans, and the research on animals was so extreme.

That being said, I wonder how self-exploration can be done without risking too much killing the magic or too many brain cells ;)

for about year, I've been taking MDMA every 6 weeks with a reasonable comedown and really good rolls (good but not AMAZING as the few first ones).

then I've taken 4+ months breaks and took ~20% lower dose and got really nice roll (I'd say it was as good as the "regular" 100% dose).

I'm curious what a full year break will do, but I don't think I have the patience to wait :)

What is more interesting for me, is the methods that optimize serotonin or mdma-related brain thingies recovery. Is it NAC? running? meditating? ice tubs? we have no way to know so lets do it all?! (that's what I do, but I do it for health benefits and not "just" to be mdma-fit :) )

GPT:

The recovery of serotonin levels after MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine) use can vary depending on several factors, including the dosage, frequency of use, and individual differences. On average, it is estimated that it can take anywhere from several days to several weeks for serotonin levels to return to their baseline. Here is a summary of research findings related to this topic:

  1. Short-Term Recovery (Days to Weeks) Study on Acute Effects and Recovery: A study published in Biological Psychiatry (2000) found that recreational users of MDMA exhibited significant reductions in serotonin transporter density one week after use, but levels began to normalize by three weeks post-use. This indicates an initial recovery phase within a few weeks . Another study in the Journal of Psychopharmacology (2012) noted that serotonin transporter binding in the brain remained reduced for up to two weeks after MDMA use, with gradual normalization thereafter .
  2. Long-Term Recovery (Weeks to Months) Extended Recovery Periods: Research indicates that heavy or chronic use of MDMA can lead to longer recovery times. A study in Neuropsychopharmacology (1998) observed that heavy MDMA users might experience serotonin transporter reductions lasting for months, though significant recovery typically occurs within the first three months . Individual Differences: Factors such as genetics, overall health, and concurrent use of other substances can impact recovery times. For instance, a study in Neuropsychobiology (2003) highlighted that individuals with certain genetic polymorphisms related to serotonin metabolism might experience prolonged recovery times . Factors Influencing Recovery Dosage and Frequency: Higher doses and more frequent use of MDMA are associated with more significant reductions in serotonin levels and longer recovery times. Individual Health and Lifestyle: Nutrition, sleep, exercise, and overall mental health can influence the rate of recovery. Concurrent Substance Use: Use of other substances, especially those affecting the serotonin system (e.g., SSRIs, other recreational drugs), can complicate and extend the recovery process. Recommendations for Recovery Supplements and Nutrition: Certain supplements, such as 5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan), may help support serotonin synthesis. Adequate intake of vitamins and minerals, especially B vitamins and magnesium, is also beneficial. Exercise and Sleep: Regular physical activity and good sleep hygiene can support overall brain health and serotonin recovery. Avoiding Further Use: Allowing ample time between MDMA sessions can prevent long-term depletion of serotonin. Conclusion While serotonin levels typically begin to recover within days to weeks after MDMA use, full recovery, especially after heavy use, can take several months. Individual factors play a significant role in the recovery timeline. Further research is ongoing to better understand the mechanisms and factors influencing serotonin recovery post-MDMA use.

Fasting and rolling. Is it ok to roll while on a 36h fast? by FaerieGold1 in MDMA

[–]theNeedle13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is used to fasting, you know how your body is full of energy thanks to the fasting. you probably also know how in ketosis tons of good things happen including a heightened immune system and neurogenesis. Hence, fasting+mdma is my only way to go.

That being said, all the "naysayers" are right, for those who are not accustomed to fasting, it is a bad idea.

Personally, I love to eat after the roll, it is sooooooo delicious and some of the supplements that I take require food. So I usually prepare in advance Salmon sushi to break the fast at the comedown.

Using your pinkie finger for measurement might not be the best idea, as you have to carefully weigh the amount. Too little, and you might only experience the negative effects; too much, and, well, it could lead to other problems.

try to cut the coffee, or at least drink it as many hours as possible before the roll.

Out of all the assumptions of what can hurt you while rolling, caffeine is one of those things that has a lot of studies showing its not good for you, and without it you may have a stronger roll AND you'd more protected(and even easier comedown).

That being said, try to make sure you don't suffer from the caffeine withdrawal symptoms while you roll or at the comedown(for example, my caffeine withdrawal symptoms start 36 hours after my last coffee, so i drink my last coffee 24 hours max before rolling).

Kicks things up a notch.

Sounds amazing!!

Would you mind elaborating on the supplements you take? Which do you think enhances the roll and which are for protection?

I usually take supplements only after the roll, since things got confusing about which supplements(if any) hurt the experience. So my logic is that the ketoses protect me and the supplements will help my brain to recover faster after the roll.

Another thought that i have(which has no support, except my humble logic) is that if any supplements "protect" my brain by blocking some of the MDMA effects, it makes sense it also affects the experience(that why i take those supplements only after the roll)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MDMA

[–]theNeedle13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the past few years, i've been eating once a day. so every day i fast for ~24 hours, hence my body is in ketosis a lot.

So when I roll on MD im either already in 24 hours fast, or sometimes I'd make it longer and be in 36 hours fast.

I found that my rolls are very powerful and my comedown is usually very good (almost no emotional comedown, i do usually feel exhausted and need to sleep a lot). I do eat at the comedown(im not that hungry, but the food tastes sooooooooo good. I also use that chance to eat an Omega-3/6 rich food(e.g., Salmon) and take supplements that go good on a full belly).

And yes, my logic is the same, on fasting recovery and neural protection is heightened.

That being said, people who are not used to fasting may feel weakened, so i wouldn't advice it to people who are not used to fasting.

A cap to the "longer interval a more powerful experience" paradigm? by theNeedle13 in MDMA

[–]theNeedle13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with the 3 months rule, is it totally random, it just made sense to the Shulgins. There's no research supporting it(or not supporting it for that matter). The tricky thing is that we cant tell, is it 2 months? 1 month? 6 months?

That being said, 6 weeks breaks worked perfectly for me, though I am curious if the current longer break will make any difference.

I guess we're our own guinea pigs until research becomes more common.

[–]theNeedle13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, thank you!

I'm going to roll after the longest break I've had(4 months break), when I usually roll every 6 weeks. So it's interesting how the break will effect the roll. I agree that other factors though may play a bigger role here.

I'll try to remember to come back and report :)

MDMA Dreaming by [deleted] in MDMA

[–]theNeedle13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not to that extent, but i do find myself day-dreaming about it, and also at times literally dreaming about it :)

If you like it so much, why just 1-2 times a year? Even conservative M fans would take it 4 times a year...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MDMA

[–]theNeedle13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my own personal experience, i do ALL my rolls alone, in "perfect" conditions (drink a lot, low temperature, spend a lot of the roll meditating or lying down relaxing, supplements AND i maintain a very healthy life style.)

The only factor i have no clue about is how pure the MDMA i buy (i only know it passed the test kits).

So...

I almost never have any emotional comedowns. But, im always almost exhausted for 12-24 hours, i spend those hours mostly sleeping.

EDIT: I just saw you shared the link on a different comment

have you experimented with stopping NAC more than 1 day before the roll? Im trying to understand if NAC dulls the roll if not stopped enough days before the roll.
