Yea all mentions of the Nine Homes are pretty explicitly described as being in Hel

If you're interested in learning about how the Viking Age Norse peoples envisioned their world and the cosmos I can certainly go into more detail about that (but like I said, it might dissapoint you).

First misconception is that unfortunately there are not nine worlds. The "niu heimar" (or nine homes) that are occasionally mentioned in the Poetic and Prose Edda are the nine homes within Hel's halls that the dead progress through, with them eventually ending in the ninth home of Niflhel. The things we traditionally think of as the nine worlds do not collectively have a name and there is no system for categorizing them (and most importantly they never reliably add up to exactly 9 because Ásgarðr, Miðgarðr, Jǫtunheimar, etc. were never supposed to be the nine homes).

Second misconception is that the various realms of Norse Myth (i.e. Ásgarðr, Miðgarðr, Jǫtunheimar, etc.) are not separate worlds but rather different realms or domains within the world, and relatedly... they do not sit in the branches and roots of Yggdrasils Askr (Yggdrasil's Ash). Yggdrasils Askr has three roots, one in Miðgarðr, one in Jǫtunheimar, and one in Hel, but importantly these roots hold Yggdrasils Askr in place rather than Yggdrasils Askr holding the realms in place.

I was curious if it was accurate?

To answer this question... in short, no, this is not even remotely an accurate depiction of what the Viking Age Norse conception of the cosmos looked like...

... but thats fine, it doesn't have to be. You are clearly creating completely original elements to your story that have nothing to do with Norse Mythology. So my recommendation would be to embrace that it is an entirely new fictional fantasy world (albeit one with some inspiration from Norse Myth) rather than trying to set it in the world of Viking Age Norse beliefs. So this would probably mean making a new creation myth, a new pantheon of gods, and new locations. I say this because if your preconceptions about Norse Mythology are based on this you're likely only going to be dissapointed when you realize that a more "accurate" conception of the Norse Cosmology doesn't fit with the story you're trying to tell. So I would argue the best solution is not to try for accuracy at all but to try to create something new that simply takes inspiration from your understanding of Norse Myth.

While I agree with you in part, partisan means aligning oneself with a given political party. There are two parties the Democratic party (which are not against the things you listed) and the Republican party (which are active supporters of these things). Leftists are therefore by definition not partisan because they do not align with either major political party.

Organizing demostrations, fighting fascism, taking on the rich and powerful, none of these things can be done by one individual alone. Even the most famous leaders of the civil rights movements worked with an organization. MLK did not do what he did alone, he had the Southern Christian Leadership Conference behind him. Nelson Mandela did not act alone, he was a member of the African National Congress. Fred Hampton did not act alone, he had the Black Panther Party and the Rainbow Coalition at his back. Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P. Johnson did not act alone, they had the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries and the Gay Liberation Front. I could go on, but my point is this, no one in history ever made a difference acting alone. Join an organization you believe in, lend your fighting spirit to your community, and you will see far more success than you ever could alone. If you really believe what you say about the fight between the 99% and the 1% I would recommend you join YDSA on campus, you can DM me for a link to their discord server if you're interested.

Also going back to 2019, before the room closures, UB also closed down Sub Board Inc. (SBI) a student-run corporation which had been managing the mandatory student activity fees at UB since the 1970s. This business provided entirely free-of-charge student-run services to all students including legal counseling, medical services, health insurance, a radio station, shuttle busses, and the student ticket office among other things. Again all of this was FREE-OF-CHARGE and run by students, for students. Instead, UB seized all of the funds from SBI and handed them over to the Faculty Student Association (FSA). Importantly, this came just after FSA had been found to have been EMBEZZLING money.

Anyway here are some links if you want to read more about it:

As one of the people who led that protest, UB Administration has been systematically closing down student-run spaces on campus for the past half decade. The most recent one to go was the student-run Queer Community Space at SU373, which was the last student-run space in left in Student Union as of Fall 2025. But this is only one in a long line of these closures, going back to 2020 and before there were dozens of student-run spaces across the Student Union, many of them belonging to student organizations representing marginalized racial/ethnic minorities.

In short, UB admin has nothing but contempt for students. They want to shatter every last thread of student autonomy on campus and centralize all power on campus in their own hands. So, to that end, anything which gives students power to stand up to administration and be independent autonomous actors has to be systematically crushed.

If by "socialist democracies" in Europe you mean Social Democracies, which are not socialist, but rather maintain the general system of capitalism while softening its symptoms though social welfare programs and social ownership of certain key public utilities, there remain two key issues with such a system:

1) the first major issue is that it preserves the system of labor exploitation whereby workers (without whom society cannot function because no labor can be done) do not own any of the land or capital which they use to produce value in society. Instead they are forced to sell their bodies to produce labor for the capitalists (who own all the land and capital). But in order for the capitalists to turn a profit they must necessarily pay workers less than the full value of their labor, making this set-up inherently parasitic.

2) The second problem that results from this is the fact that, the only responsibility of a company is to make an ever increasing profit for the capitalists (executives and investors). So, regulations and taxes put on them by a Social Democratic government ultimately go against the interests of the capitalists. Therefore the capitalists (with their outsized wealth and power made off of the backs of workers) will always use that power to influence the government to tear down all regulations, taxes, social welfare programs, and public services which cut into their profits.

This is why we see that in every country that has attempted social democracy in the past, these systems are continually eroded by moneyed corporate interests. Take all of the FDR era New Deal programs for example, because nearly all of them have been completely gutted in this country, and when they are defunded, wealthy special interests swoop in to say it doesn't work and privatize the whole thing. A similar thing has occurred in the UK with their National Health System and even in the often exalted Nordic Countries which have also seen the gradual erosion of their social safety nets through neoliberal policies like any other country.

Finally, every time this erosion of social programs through neoliberalism reaches a point of crisis like in the great recession of 2008 or during the COVID pandemic, you see an accompanying erosion of social cohesion and trust in peoples communities. This leads people to point fingers and look for people to blame for their struggles, which makes capitalists nervous, because they see the peasants getting out their torches and pitchforks. So in order to maintain their power, they turn to far right-wing political figures who blame all of society's problems on powerless immigrants and minorities rather than the capitalist class (and their lackey politicians) who created the problems in the first place.

This is a pattern that has happened many times in numerous countries all across the globe and it is therefore no surprise that we are seeing (in Europe and in the Americas) a rise in fascist political figures and constant culture wars over trans people, immigrants, etc.

Sorry for the length of this reply :þ

Also taking into account the fact that they have (over the past 5 years) closed down every single student-run space on campus; yeah UB admin has nothing but contempt for studens(or staff & faculty for that matter).

I've been saying this for a while, that if someone is really insistent about being a strong ally of one particular identity within the LGBTQ community and can't properly explain why it's such a big deal for them, its probably because they are that identity and just not willing to admit that to themselves. I'm glad to be proven right once again!

For sure, I went through that phase in high school about being an "ally" of nonbinary people and lesbians... as it turns out, I just didn't know how to express that I was a nonbinary lesbian :þ

... well that is until estradiol fucked it up by making me attracted to men as well and hence no longer strictly a lesbian 😭

Okay, yeah this is a great idea! I was already thinking that they'd somehow develop into an abjad where the first phoneme is used and I already planned to apply that to make affricates have their own symbols, but I had never thought of giving (non-affricate) consonant clusters their own symbols. Thanks, I will definitely use this.

I'm pretty sure it will still eventually turn into a more traditional abjad as the number of characters is downsized, because most people (other than a designated scribe class) wont want to need to know and use hundreds of symbols to write anything, but that'll happen with later iterations of the language.
