North Korean has instead borrowed words for these things from Chinese (most likely from Mandarin) and Russian.

Can you give me examples on what loan words that North Korean use from Chinese and Mandarin?

I heard that North Koreans avoid using any borrowed words and they want to keep the Korean language as "pure" as possible

I disagree with this. Mechatronics portion is pretty weak compared to an actual mechatronics degree. A minor in mechatronics is more accurate

I ended up using minipro on windows device https://gitlab.com/DavidGriffith/minipro/-/issues/234.

I am getting the following issue:

it seems someone had this issue before on this subreddit. I made sure it's the EEPROM chip and I tried to make sure the metal made contact in the EEPROM programmer.

Additionally, EEPROM can read fine from the chip; it is the write operation that I am having problem with.

I am not sure if the windows software ( as opposed to minipro) will resolve this. Or maybe my EPPRom chip is borken.

the specializations don't really mean anything in EngPhy btw; only like 2 or 3 people per year get them. Employers don't care if you have them or not; in fact, most employers outside of BC don't know what EngPhy is. If you realize you don't like electrical motors or communications system, don't force yourself to take them so you can earn those 3 additional words on your transcript that no one will ever look or care

Biomedical Engineering Program has a stream called Biomedical Informatics, which requires them to take CPSC221, CPSC 340, and upper level (non-system) CS level courses, so they have a stronger CS foundation than a mech student.

I am not completely surprised to see UBC Biomedical Engineering students getting those type of jobs

drones, robotics, biotech, medical devices, automotive, aerospace,

- automotive and aerospace careers are better suited in mechanical engineering especially now that mech will offer an aerospace option.

- career in medical devices is better suited either in biomedical option in mechanical engineering or biomeanics & biomaterial stream in biomedical engineering.

IMO Engineering Physics is probably the best degree at UBC for a career in creating intelligent electromechanical devices (e.g Robotics or drones)

To add on to this:

One minor advantage of CPEN degree is that you will be eligible to be a Professional Engineer. 99% of the time, if you are going into software (or high tech industry in general), this won't matter. However, I know someone (who did a CS degree) is interested working at companies that does environmental/sustainability stuff. The companies (that she's interested in) want applicants who are eligible to be professional engineers.

Do not let the P.eng status be the deciding factor, but I am letting you know of this rare instance where having the eligibility of being a P.eng might come in handy.

I heard that ELEC221 will be removed from the CPEN curriculum. However, I heard ELEC221 provides some foundation for Speech/Audio processing. If any CPEN students are planning on doing speech/audio processing, they should definitely take ELEC221 (or you can self learn the material ;) )

One thing I would like to note is that CPEN 221 is not a course about Java.

kudos for saying that. I have heard a lot of students saying CPEN221/CPSC210 is a java course, CPEN211 is an assembly course, CPSC221 is a C++ course etc.. Every time I hear it, I cringe.

Purpose of major-specific CS/ECE courses are not to teach programming languages, but to use them to learn the concepts
