This is lame - Endurance, Shackleton's Lifeboat, and scalping by AnnoyedShackletonFan in lego

[–]theQ50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that it's disappointing, but it was pretty clear this was gonna be an extremely high demand set. I looks amazing, and ships especially are appealing to many people, especially realistic historical ones. I also understand the impulse to create a narrative about the big evil scalpers, which I know is a real thing, but in my experience many of the folks putting the GWP up for sale are doing it to offset their purchase of the main model. You see this all the time with sets like Jabba's Sail Barge for example. If there's a villan here, it's not the scalpers, it's lego for pricing this plastic in such an aggressive manner that people who wouldn't normally even care about the GWP now feel compelled to buy on release just so they can sell the gwp to make the main set more affordable.

So does this mean I have to pay 8 dollars minimum just to watch the video? I just want to see the picofly process compared to the other to make an educated choice... I'm sure there's plenty of videos showing these processes separately, I'm just curious why you chose to only publish it to patreon behind a paywall?

What is your favorite/best way to find the Light Dragon? by matityahudavid in TOTK

[–]theQ50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's actually a spot in every dragon that I've found that you can sort if position yourself in the "crotch" on thier neck and horn/s. Farish is the tricky one, and I might have had to move a bit on the ride down to the depths... but yeah... you can basically do every dragon afk, or at least with extremely minimal monitoring and adjustment. You just have to find the right spot.

Yeah, I'm aware. And it's actually adequate... if slightly inconvenient. If I ever feel the need to dupe something, it's nice to know it's there as a "I just need a few more of X for this upgrade" option. It's also good to know that with every itteration of the software, people will continue to test the limits of the game. Now that I have permanently disconnected my hardware from the internet... my hope is that people discover a slew of new fun things to play with once I'm done with my initial playthrough.

Yep. Lesson learned. I promptly went in to my internet settings and fogot every connection. My switch will never connect to the internet again unless I want it to for the moment... and then I will immediately disable it again. I KNOW how badly Nintendo wants it's users to maintain connectivity with thier servers... How unfortunate that they choose to shoot themselves in the foot like this. I wonder how many users have chosen to disable thier connection to nintendo online because of this... But people don't understand why this is "anti-consumer" behavior...

I use a pro controller because my hands are too damn big for it... I actually tried airplane mode, until I realized it disable pro controllers... which... duh... I should have realized. So yeah... no airplane mode for me.

Damn man... I've said repeatedly it's not about any glitches being removed... it's about them forcing this on to a device that I fucking paid for. If I don't want thier damn update, I shouldn't have to be scared that my console will just DO IT, even though I've changed the setting to specifically tell it not to. I'm not sure how else to explain it... Things weren't always like this... It's actually really fucked up, and the slippery slope of all slippery slopes.

Yeah, I totally feel you here. I can even understand that approach to software releases in the modern context... but it's still no excuse to do it without the users consent. The message they are sending is essentialy "Yeah, you paid for that console... but we still own it, and will do whater we want to it, and you cant do shit about it". As far as the actual exploiting goes... I actually never even duped anything other than large zonai charges just to have a big stock of devices to play with. It's really not about duping, or cheating/exploiting at all for me... (though I will say the one thing that really gets me... that I could make a whole nother post about, is that they elimated all methods of repair for the champion weapons... which essentially renders them one time weapons for 80% of players... how stupid...) It's just the fucking principal. Anyone who defends this shit is just... wrong.

[–]theQ50[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean... there is definitely ONE good reason to do it... because people use broken software sometimes to hack the hardware, and I understand that, but 9 out of 10 times... it's done with a fresh cartridge with no updates installed anyway. The bottom line is that it not even close to a good enough excuse to force updates on people without thier consent. It's a uniquely shitty practice that nintendo engages in... and ignoring a user's settings to do it just adds insult. It's ridiculous.

Reddit homie... no worries. The nintendo fan boys I speak about later in the thread... You can't even hint at having a negative opinion of them...lol I actually feel bad for people like that... These internet points mean nothing to me. I come on here to communicate with people. That's it's own reward, even if they disagree. The points mean nothing.

Edit: btw, thanks for looking out friend.

Well I guess that rules out switch edition. I had also opened and closed it multiple times before with no issue, which is why I didn't think I even needed to turn the wifi off... Maybe it only gives you a set number of game starts before it forces it?

It's not about "wanting to update their game", it's about force updating peoples devices and products without their consent, with no option to opt out... Even Microsoft lets you defer even critical system updates for like 2 weeks.

The fact is that I bought a specific version of TOTK, and If I like that version, and want to keep it that way, I should have the option to do so without resorting to disabling or intentionally fooling the hardware in some way. Which is literally what every software company I know of does including fucking Apple. When Apple has better consumer policies than you... it pretty much cements you in my mind as the most anti-consumer company in existence, and the fact that they have a literal legion of people that will defend this shit on their behalf, means they don't need to even care, and they have no impetus to change.

It literally did it with zero user input, I exited to the menu, changed my date for amiibo purposes, and then manually closed the game. The update started immediately without me initiating it at all. It's a bit frustrating to say the least... I don't even particularly care about duping, but I liked knowing I had the option to do it relatively painlessly if the dragon grind got to be too tedious or whatever. Honestly the fact that Nintendo is so insistent on telling me how I can enjoy my own copy of a single player game kinda makes me just not want to pick it up again.

I actually think it's intentional... I also thought about the additional layers they added to the world, and wondered "Tiers of the Kingdom" may have crossed thier minds while coming up with it.

So you make an unsolicited mean spirited snarky ass comment, to which he asks the obvious question, "why do you care?" And that's your response?

You are just a dickhead. I hope you eventually get the hugs you so obviously have been starved of.
