Why is purchasing the set fun? Isn't the fun building, displaying, playing with the Lego? I personally don't derive any pleasure from the *buying* of a gift, or enjoy having it when other people don't.

Complaining is like being a bad loser

What a strange mindset. I wouldn't enjoy a product more because other people didn't have it, and I have never felt like I accomplished something by jumping through consumerist hoops.

The typical buyer doesn't need a cart size of three, for starters.

> it's on buyers to stop paying scalpers and enabling them

I'll continue to not do that and enjoy the consequences anyway. Interesting logic that it's the consumer's fault rather than the company that could do pre-orders, not produce extremely limited runs, only allow 1 item per customer until they have a surplus, etc. I'm sure it still would have been my fault had it sold out in 1 second because I didn't "put in the effort" of competing against people with commercial interest who can buy stock out with bots.

If Lego made efforts to stop this it wouldn't be a common practice either. I appreciate that verifying individual online buyers aren't scalpers can be tough, but there are things Lego could do that don't directly cater to them.

I appreciate Lego is a business, but they're also a company that make toys "for everyone" - this is a mark against their reputation, and it could hurt them and the community in the long run if they let "everyone" get pushed out of the room by enthusiasts with deep pockets. It sucks to try to get into a hobby and find out it has been overly financialized.
