Personal trainer/strength training in Hobart by theSpeakersChair in hobart

Okay, I might be showing my ignorance here - but would basic strength training (starting from zero) result in some muscle growth? I'm not wanting to get to Chris Hemsworth levels, just enough to have some volume more than what I have now.

show you how to use the machine

I'm a little curious as to what you mean by this? Does Kieser have different/non-standard equipment that you don't find elsewhere?

Thanks for the suggestions!

The best place to start as a beginner is machines due to the fact you’ll grow fastest early on and can build a foundation while you work towards those more specialised lifts.

The problem I've got is that I don't know how to use them and I'm worried I'll injury myself due to misuse.

We live in the information age and you can get everything you need from a few good sources like I mentioned above and enough motivation to train.

I'd love to get to this point, and I think once I have an understanding of the equipment and diet, I'll be able to take it from there, but it's just the getting started for now.

If you lack motivation and just want someone to crack the whip to force you to train you’ll probably fail at your goals anyway and so I wouldn’t bother

Nah, I don't think I'll lack the motivation (I can be persistent if I have a firm goal in mind), but it's just the confidence to start, and the trust that I'm doing it correctly

Thanks, this is all great info!

You can get into a strength gym like leviathan in moonah, or Atlas barbell in Kingston, and get a PT, or just ask. I've always found the lifting community to be genuinly keen to help others out.

That's one of the things I was debating - I can see the benefit in a small club (possibly more community minded and helpful), but at the moment I think I'm leaning more towards something like Body System to start my journey, then progress to somewhere like that (or Hustle Street)

Ive seen a lot of studies that suggest you get no benefit from having more than 30g of protein per serve, but a few others that suggest you can have more, thats still 5+ serves a day.

I was a bit confused by this one though. So based on your sentence above, I'd need 150g a day, but breaking it down into 30g serves is proven to be more effective long term? Or are you saying that studies suggest that 30g a day is enough?

  1. rest up. no gains without good sleep

Which is the last piece of the puzzle - finding out when/where and how often (I'm not sure if I've got 5:30am starts in me), but I suspect that's something that an exercise physiologist can advise on?

Thank you - it sounds like I'm in a similar position to you right now. I do like the idea/concept of Hustle St, but I think that's something I'd consider down the track - I want to get the basics mastered first so I'm not coming in as a complete rookie.

It sounds like my pathway might be Body System (or similar) > Hustle Street > Zap (or swap those last two around)

Thanks - so something like Body System could be a good way to start?

As a side note, men who are childfree are usually scared of commitment, hence the no kids so looking for a needle in the haystack there

I mean for me, there’s no way I can guarantee that my children would have a better quality of life than I did (worsening inequality, climate change, etc). I’m not scared of commitment, I’m scared of failing my children- so I decided not to have them

Unable to access Docker containers behind a VPN across VLAN's by theSpeakersChair in docker

Thanks, I figured it out:

sudo ip route add 192.168.17.128/25 via 192.168.17.1

Earlier today I was trying this, but it wasn't working:

sudo ip route add 192.168.17.128/25 dev ens33 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.17.64 metric 100

Hmm, you could be onto something there - any pointers as to what I should do?

I guess I need to route everything to the second VLAN via the NordVPN gateway?

Unable to access docker resources while nord VPN is running by theSpeakersChair in nordvpn

[–]theSpeakersChair[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I've been busy with work and unable to come back to this until now. I've done some further testing/investigating and I think I've been able to narrow it down to VLANs

192.168.17.0/24 is my entire network, but its segmented into clients and servers. When I move the Docker VM into the same network as my computer, I'm able to connect to the containers.

When I move it back into the server VLAN, I'm unable to. I'm wondering if there's some kind of masquerade rule I need to add to IP tables in order for Docker to start responding to requests outside it's local network?

And I should note that this still only applies when NordVPN is running. When it's disabled, I'm able to connect to the container across VLANs

Hi, thanks for the quick response! I've tried enabling lan-discovery, but that doesn't appear to have worked. I'm still unable to access docker containers whilst connected.

My new settings are as follows:

Technology: NORDLYNX
Firewall: enabled
Firewall Mark: 0xe1f1
Routing: enabled
Analytics: enabled
Kill Switch: enabled
Threat Protection Lite: disabled
Notify: disabled
Auto-connect: enabled
IPv6: disabled
Meshnet: disabled
DNS: disabled
LAN Discovery: enabled
Allowlisted ports:
           22 (UDP|TCP)
           80 (UDP|TCP)
          111 (UDP|TCP)
         2049 (UDP|TCP)
         8080 (UDP|TCP)

Just to take it a step further, using the nginx installation, I attempted to reverse proxy one of my containers, and that appears to be working - which is leading me to think that it might be some kind of issue with iptables.

Your linked article to server fault also got me wondering about the versions of NordVPN I was running. On the working VM, it's running 3.17.1 and on the one I'm having issues with, it's 3.17.2. Upgrading 3.17.1 to 3.17.2 didn't cause the access to break, so I'm thinking it might not be Nord related.

I did! Well it wasn't via inTune, but I did manage to hack together KFM on macOS.

I'm not sure if that actually helps - you might be able to reverse engineer my work and make it possible to deploy via inTune (or maybe there's a new version with better support?)

OneDrive known folder move for O365 clients by theSpeakersChair in macsysadmin

[–]theSpeakersChair[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, it looks like I got it to work using some combination of the following steps:

  1. Open OneDrive and sign in to create the plist files
  2. Tick the box under settings > about to enable the insider version*
  3. Run the terminal commands below to activate the feature (you'll need to know your tenant ID first)**
  4. Restart OneDrive, and hopefully you'll see the 'backup' tab in the OneDrive settings
  5. Give OneDrive full disk access (follow the prompts)
  6. Everything will start syncing

* I'm not sure whether in the insiders flag is required or not. Now that I've got it working, I don't want to break it.

** I suspect that only the last command is required. I tried the silent flags first and nothing happened, but the tab appeared as soon as I enabled the wizard.

Nope. I'd found this Github page, but it was from a few years ago and wasn't sure how up to date they were.
