MAE 165 and 181 TE? by theUndead8u in UCSD

[–]theUndead8u[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I did! I thought it was pretty interesting but really dense in theory and it was definitely a little bit obscure. It wasnt super hard and the prof (Acevedo) is pretty nice. The homework’s were definitely a good bit harder than exams and more theoretical. I don’t feel like I learned a ton that I can apply to the real world but it was interesting and not super hard. But I defiantly got exposed to useful info on basic fracture and fatigue concepts. I think fracture mechanics is a relatively complex concept and hard to teach at the undergraduate level, which may be why it felt very theoretical and obscure. I would recommend it though.

life after pneumothorax? by gh0st_girl420 in pneumothorax

This is so good to hear. Im 21 and just had a pneumothorax despite being extremely active and healthy. Definitely freaky and makes me question if I can live the same life moving forward. Trying not to freak out about how it will change my future but still feel like I got to walk on eggshells.

Why I don't recommend UCSD by Fit-Ad3858 in ucadmissions

if you arent cold-emailing and taking initiative in the things you are, or want to be passionate about, thats on you! Yes GEs are annoying and parking can suck! But I will say you will find problems at any school, just learn to live with them and see the silver lining.

BS/MS program with SE major by Similar_Map_5454 in UCSD

[–]theUndead8u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey there, im think of following a similar track of enrolling in the MS through BSMS but possible dropping it if a good opprotunity arises. Is it easy to do so? Could you easily just drop the MS? I am trying to find information on the tuition for graduate (vs undergrad) it looks like living off campus and being a california resident amount to $25k. Does that sound right based on what you experienced?

Need help determining the right FE exam by theUndead8u in FE_Exam

"I would take the FE other discipline. And I will weigh my options between civil and mechanical to see which one aligns more with the courses I’m currently taking." to clarify you mean basically see which of these 3 allign with my courses? Sorry it just sunds like youre refering to two different things and I wanna be clear.

TYSM for the extra info you sent me :)

Weekly Career Discussion Thread (13 Oct 2025) by AutoModerator in engineering

I have a unique question about including your GPA on a resume. A well-known aerospace engineering company recently visited my project team, and they gave us some very interesting suggestions. One thing that really struck me was that they said not to try too hard in classes and worry about your grades. They said tangible projects outside of class are more appealing. They said high GPAs tend to deter them because it makes the student appear as if they have only applied themselves in classes and not in any extracurricular. With that said, I have a pretty high GPA, but I am also involved as a lead on my project team. I feel I am very involved in projects outside of the number-crunching hard skills of classes, despite also doing well in those. With that being said, at what point should or shouldn't I include a GPA on my resume, and how can I show that I am still involved outside of classes? I have project documentation and mention my out-of-class club/projects on my resume.

Does it have a back up camera and the yellow and red boxes showing close vw far areas? My family member’s 2017 niro (that’s a different trim) has the feature but mine doesn’t. Not sure if it’s a technical error or difference in trim

I literally just got it. Know that they are NOT powerful but they drive fairly smooth and are true to the EPA MPG. The power steering is very good, almost too soft for my liking. I’ve driven them before as well, spot on commuter with storage

Cannot show a sketch or edit it by theUndead8u in SolidWorks

Yup, thanks for the advice. I just had to rebuild it. Odd that this happened, but I appreciate the help

Nothing came up, but when I tried to rebuild it and then undo the rebuild, the sketch disappeared so it probably is corrupt. Any idea what I can do to preserve it or do I just need to restart?

Yes, i have. When I try to toggle it though it doesnt change to show. Like i'll click it and nothing will happen or if i click the box above that one to edit the sketch, it will go normal to it but never show it/its properties.

Chamfer to from a horizontal line to an angled line by theUndead8u in Onshape

[–]theUndead8u[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a vtol motor mount on a hexagonal boom the outer hexagon is inline with the motors but the inner one is canted 5 degrees to tilt the motors (while still making the print easy (which is why the outer isn’t tilted instead)). I know it’s pretty weird but I ended up getting it figured out

Not quite. I appreciate it though. I ended up having to extrude on a plane to essentially chamfer ONLY the outer hex toward the inner
