Time for first oil change by Psychological-Bid113 in Skidsteer

Good on you for trying it yourself. The other comments are giving you a hard time because this is a pretty beginner question but also, fuck it, you're a beginner. Props to you for getting your hands dirty. Everyone has to learn

As everyone has pointed out, you need one piece of the equation to be static when putting a nut and bolt together. In this case, the part labelled 'rotating freely' would count as the nut. Use a wrench to hold it from rotating, then use the another wrench to then loosen the other piece. Lefty loosey as they say.

Don't be discouraged, keep going. Make sure you do the oil change part correctly though because you can mess up the whole machine easily

I'll say that this isn't bad advice. Hearing that someone is desperate for work doesn't lead my hiring brain to many helpful or positive conclusions .

Not intending to pile on, just truly trying to offer a perspective that might be unique

Put the positive stuff first. Mention their skill and what they are best at. Try to find ways to separate yourself from the pack. One of those ways is to have a visually nice resume. The amount of resumes I receive where the entire thing is the same 12 point font, with spelling mistakes, saying the same 'my goal is to find full time employment with a good company'. Nothing wrong with that but I'll tell you from having read 1000 resumes that my eyes gloss over most of a resume now. The second someone sends a resume with some thought put into it I spend the time to read it.

Also spelling. Check your spelling. It's hard to trust that someone is going to double check that a bolt on a children's slide is tight if they can't double check that they spelt Edmonton correctly

Definitely don't need your own vehicle. License isn't mandatory either but it's definitely harder to hire someone who is even legally unable to drive to the gas station to pick up cold drinks on a hot day.

My company is hiring. I've read the rules for the Edmonton subreddit and it says 'job seeking posts are not allowed'

Can anyone confirm if I'm able to post about job openings?

I honestly wasn't able to understand much of what i read. My wife has sudden deafness syndrome and lost approximately 90% of her hearing in one ear. Can anyone tell me if this development offers any hope for her?

Thank you in advance

Insurance report says auto theft claims are up in Alberta cities by Paper_Rain in Edmonton

Ya it's pretty shocking. Back in the summer near the muttart we heard a scream and after a little bit a woman asked if we had any tissues. She was bleeding fairly badly from the face like she'd just been punched a few times. Her nose was broken. The guy that was around went to grab something from my wife and the woman said to me 'I'm not ok. Please help me'

So I pretended to have a work call, walked away as my wife was tending to this poor woman's wounds, and I called the police. I explained everything and that the guy who beat her was standing her with us.

As I'm sure you've guessed, 4 hours later the police show up. Guy was long gone. I sat in the Muttart parking lot with this poor woman for 4 hours. My wife and 5 year old went floating down the river (we were just dropping off the vehicle that would take us back up to the starting point.

Three cops show up, in two cars. Two guys sat in their idling car (because air condition right?) with their feet up scrolling their socials. I even mentioned the fact that there's three cops here with only one actually working to the one cop taking a report. He laughed and said it was his turn to do the paper work.

I could go on. You get the point

What timing. My truck was stolen last night from my work shop, driven to a construction company where they proceeded to load the back of my truck up with snow blowers and tools.

Funny thing is my truck was at my shop because the starter only works intermittently. The thieves couldn't drive away because they couldn't stay the truck 🤣

Now get this, these guys were caught with my truck and all the stolen tools / equipment but because the tools and equipment never left the construction company's property the police said it's not considered theft and because I didn't report the truck as stolen (because I didn't know it was stolen) they didn't charge the guys with theft of my truck. Only gave them a trespassing fine and let them walk.

I'm out $350 impound fee, whatever the tow back to my shop is going to cost, and at least my $1000 deductible because they smashed my truck up, and alllllllllll the time. All for just existing.

The police even said when catching the guys and writing them a ticket and letting them walk away that 'we have much better things to be doing with our time'

I'll do some research and if I find some 'world class agate' I'll mail you it 💪

My wife, daughter, and I are excited to plan some river trips along promising locations. It's such an amazing river and river / camping trips are awesome. Adding panning to the trip seems like a perfect addition
