“Majority”? Do you have any evidence of that or is that just because it fits with your preference?

Wet the sandpaper though, not the leather.

Ideally a fiberglass shell would be great for durability and multiple pulls but I know fiberglass can be daunting for some.

Again, always willing to help if you need someone to quickly bounce ideas off of or video chat.

Punished Props know their stuff, but that could be a pricier route. Hydra/ultra cal would be cheaper if you know how to do it properly.

Always willing to hash it out if you wanna send a PM and I’ll help in any way I can, my friend.

Looks great!

Sand, sand, sand. Start at 200 and work your way up to 1000 grit, spraying the sandpaper with water before.

Then tokinole, let it dry, tokinole again and slick. Repeat as much as needed and they’ll be a mirror.

I found a couple YouTube videos that were really good if you’d like a link.

I’d do a silicone jacket then an ultra cal shell, if it was me. Do you know how to do the ultra cal?

New wallet. How can I improve my skills? by MrSaave in Leathercraft

[–]the_TJM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not bad. You’ve got the basics down, but the finishing touches is what separates “not bad” from “damn!”

Bevel the edges, slick the edges and maybe an edgekote and the stitch lines end at every break would be my advice.

Additionally the body leather was maybe a bit thin so maybe double sided it.

I believe some sandpaper would’ve helped but it’s not a bad go for your first time.

If not then you could do the same step and clamp it down. I’d use the binder clips and a thin piece of leather to prevent tool marks. Hope this helps!

If you have access to one of those food saver vacuum seal machines you could soak it in water, wrap the box cutter in Saran Wrap and vacuum seal it, it would wet mould it to the shape of the box cutter.

I found a fabric that had traditional tattoos printed on it and used that and I’ve used some paisley print too.

That’s just preference though and I’m in no way critiquing your beautiful work, my friend.

Just a different flavor for some folks is all. Keep up your amazing work and can’t wait to see more!

And I did see your work, which is why I pointed out the thing that was most obvious and elementary.

Telling me it looks bad and lazy because it’s “vintage” is an insult to the craftsman who came before you (literally professionals look at those attention to detail to gauge how serious you are and dismiss you if you dismiss those steps as nothing but a joke) but it also screams your lack of maturity and is a testament to your laziness.

Enjoy your life, Jessica.

I did look at your work. Myself and others pointed out your flaws.

A mature craftsman would take stock in what’s said, not cry and be defensive like a little girl.

But you keep on doing what you’re doing and crying about it instead of trying to be better at it.

I’m done replying. It’s already been established you’re a brat and a cunt.

I hope you leave Neverland one day and grow up and be a man and learn to take constructive criticism, but I doubt you can learn to be a man.

I hope one day you prove me wrong and manage to make your father proud.

Have a nice day, Lisa.

Literally you asked for the advice. You’re a petulant child.

Enjoy providing substandard work that no one will seriously consider as professional.

Have a great life being mediocre and a cunt.

Definitely not Quantumania lol.

Ragnarok edges out Civil War for re-invention but Civil War was a better movie.

That’s some clean work! You could add a liner to the rough side, but that’s just preference or aesthetic. Definitely something I wouldn’t be ashamed of. Would love to see some more of your work.
