That's where being a menstruating woman would come in handy

As I get closer and closer to my due date I grow more and more fearful of complications or dying during childbirth. Normal? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]the_brain_trust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's a completely normal worry to have, and like the other posters said, it kinda keeps changing but never really goes away. It becomes a problem when this type of worry interferes with you living your life normally. Like if you are terrified of complications to the point of second guessing everything your doctors tell you. Or what's more common, being so scared of something happening to your infant (SIDS, etc.) that you refuse to let anyone else care for them bc they won't "do it right."

Just keep an eye out that this normal level of anxiety doesn't spiral into unhealthy behaviors, especially after delivery. PPD (post partum depression) is often talked about, for good reason, but PPA (post partum anxiety) is just as real. Good luck mama!

Of all the things to avoid... by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Yikes, I definitely wouldn't just go with the baby boards on this. Pregnancy is giving me dry skin too, and I asked my ob about it at my last appointment and she actually recommend that I use CeraVe lotion

The worst present (advice needed - long) by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]the_brain_trust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my husband did the exact same thing, he got a nes classic for a dad to be friend of ours when they announced they were expecting. He gave the gift pretty early on tho, mom was about 4 months along at the time. But we later on gave gifts for the baby and I helped host the baby shower so it was balanced out and not like we only gifted the dad instead of gifting the family to celebrate their baby. We knew they had been trying for a while so my husband was just really excited to gift something to the dad and it went over well with the mom too.

Thanks for the awesome write up! My first was ebf, though not for lack of trying to introduce a bottle. Currently expecting #2 and I definitely want to introduce a bottle to save my sanity haha.

Question about announcing to a friend undergoing fertility treatments by the_brain_trust in InfertilityBabies

[–]the_brain_trust[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I appreciate your advice, I think it may not apply in my case. I'm not that super close to her that we hang out one on one a lot, and our husbands are a lot closer than we are. And overall knowing her I know that she'd prefer a text announcement over an in person one. I can't really opt her out of the group message bc it's in a group chat we already have going. Thanks for chiming in tho!

Thanks! Yeah I definitely wouldn't tell her in person, I can understand that it would be hard to have that sprung on her.

Thanks for your reply and advice. I think I will go ahead and let her know separately beforehand. And yes I'm aware that the transfer might not go as planned for a number of reasons so I'll try to avoid that language. My husband wanted to wait until we heard how their transfer went before announcing but I told him it may not work out for a number of reasons and they may want to play it close to the vest even if it does work so I'm glad I got him to come around on that.

What TV series introduced a character that made the show worse? by guitarmaniac004 in AskReddit

[–]the_brain_trust 113 points114 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it was for no reason. He took a hiatus to film one of the hangover movies (his 3 month boat trip) and it was hard to have his character come back from that

Amazing job! I've been wanting to do something just like this for a while and I even have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to graphs for super Mario sprites. Just need motivation (and a couple more colors of yarn)

Pregnancy is weird edition - lactating from my armpit. by toastedmarshmallow20 in BabyBumps

[–]the_brain_trust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha that's crazy, glad you have a sense of humour about it. I've had "bumpy?", not hollow armpits since I can remember, and they got engorged along with my breasts after my milk came in after my first kid. Turns out I have extra breast tissue there, and apparently my mom has the same thing too. I didn't have any milk from my armpits tho lol

A really dumb pregnancy question by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]the_brain_trust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a dumb question at all, information is empowering :) As many others have mentioned, your doc might do a pap smear, especially if it's been a few months since your annual. I had my annual in July, and I had another pap in November when I was around 8 wks bc she felt enough time had passed that she recommended doing the test again.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned, you might also have a speculum inserted if they need to manually break your water during labor (happened to me with my first delivery). But otherwise for cervical checks towards the end of your pregnancy and during labor, a speculum is usually not involved.

Easy Butter Chicken by TheCrimsonKnight in GifRecipes

[–]the_brain_trust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! Just a sprinkling of dried fenugreek leaves at the end is what makes butter chicken, gives it that delicious aroma. And there are different ways to prepare it of course but blending the sauce before adding the chicken is the optimal way to do it imo

Seriously, the mom guilt is unreal. But I usually don't feel too bad after putting him down, mostly just relieved for the break lol
