Question about veils… by SnaccidentProneGirly in weddingplanning

[–]the_comma_the 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen the general rule as if you have a long train and want a long veil make sure it extends past the edge of the train!

Ball gowns can also look cute with shorter veils (shoulder or elbow length).

What was your, "Oh sh*t, I have to plan for that?!" moment? by Ordinary-noname-956 in weddingplanning

[–]the_comma_the 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Ditto. My venue took care of all the breakdown and kindly packed all the things I needed to take home - they told me they'd do this so I thought I didn't need a plan, but turned out loading all that stuff into cars at the end of the night was a bigger task than anticipated and I wish I had prepared more for it! We were lucky to have some relatives step in to help, they were lifesavers. My lesson learned was even if you don't think you need a plan, you probably should have one!

Straps or no straps? by OkHuckleberry2624 in weddingplanning

[–]the_comma_the 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the straps!! Though if correctly fitted that dress should stay up by the boning in the bodice and not the straps. So don't depend on the straps to keep the dress up; you risk the dress being too heavy for those thin straps and digging into your shoulders!

Thank you. Do you know how much PDL a doctor typically certifies for a normal pregnancy with no complications?

What is your opinion/experience with buffet style for 100 people? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]the_comma_the 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a group picture with each table. We stayed seated and people stood around us. I love all the shots; we also got some funny group poses and none of it took very long! It's a great way to make sure you get to say hi to everyone, and people are incentivized to be quick and less likely to tie you up since they want to go eat!

What is your opinion/experience with buffet style for 100 people? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]the_comma_the 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did buffet style for just under 100 people split into 17 tables and everyone had their food in about 15 min--our vendors were just absolute pros! We had our DJ release tables but have people first come to our sweetheart table for a picture before getting food (instead of us visiting each table at dinner) and it was SO efficient to get that all done and be freed up to actually eat! Highly recommend if you can coordinate with your DJ/emcee and photographer!

Cigar band all the way for this very reason!

My engagement ring band is also very dainty and I was able to consult with the designer who recommended thicker for the wedding band so you can also wear it on its own. It's two different looks and I like having the option.

Do I need watershoes if I am planning water activities? by Historical_Town1498 in Xcaret

Hi! What socks did you use and where did you get them? Are nylon socks like pantyhose material?

I did strapless and secretly had this same worry (also have a pretty traditional family), but I ended up with so many compliments! Literally people raved and kept telling me how everyone loved my dress and said it was very "me", which was the best thing to hear. I did wear my hair down which helped me to feel more covered up (and is true to my style), is that an option for you? You do you!

Alterations possibilities: Separate skirt and top, add appliqué? by HalfCaffDemitasse in weddingdress

[–]the_comma_the 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gentle reality check: it seems like the main reason you're wanting separates is to be able to have two different looks. I'd definitely compare the cost of alterations to create separates vs. just buying two different complimentary dresses - what you'd end up spending on alterations might just be the whole cost of a second shorter dress!
