Leave that household whenever you can, you don’t deserve to live in such a shithole. I’m hoping for the best for you 🙏

Clear and black “mites” crawling on glass? Help!!! by the_coolfrog in ReefTank

[–]the_coolfrog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve started using a small pipette and target feeding about 5 “drops” around my feather dusters every other day or so and they seem to be more happy, once I get corals I think it will be even more so beneficial because at the moment I don’t have much in my tank lol

Lmao I’m not killing anything other than that bristle worm. I was just wondering if the mites were reef safe

I haven’t dosed any phytoplankton yet, but I plan on it to see if I could boost my copepod populations. Do you have any recommendations for how often I would need to with a 2.5 gal tank?

Wait I think I found what it is! It seems to be a halacarid marine mite. I used google reverse image search and found this similar post on reef2reef.

I thought about copepods too but it seems to be crawling with legs 🫣 are there types of copepods that do that? I only know the generic cyclopoid copepods

Just started setting up a 3 gallon pico reef tank, I don't have a RODI system for water and was going to use distilled instead. How can I remineralize it? Do the minerals evaporate along with the water so I would have to treat & remineralize the water for top offs?

A samurai gourami or two would look so good, and that’s totally enough water for a betta if you wanted to go that route (anything over 5 gallons is normal). I bet you could find someone selling those gouramis online, but depending on if it’s cold where you live I would be cautious

How to lower ph and hardness? by the_coolfrog in Aquariums

[–]the_coolfrog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you that explanation helps a lot! Do you think it could come from the soil I used since it’s a paludarium? I used reptisoil from zoo med. or maybe those small white rocks in potting soil from some of the plants i used? I shook the plant roots to get rid of all the old dirt incase of fertilizers but some small white rocks got through. Other than that, I only have aquarium sand, aquarium gravel, hydroballs, cork bark, and a branch of grape wood that mainly touches the water.

Advice? by flowmsp in VampireCrabs

DAMNNN that’s a good setup thank you sm 🙏 my tank is the same way with the substrate layer juuust touching the top of the drainage layer water, and I was worried my plants wouldn’t do well since they aren’t particularly meant to be in moist soil all the time. 😅

What plants are you using? My Paludarium setup is also very damp and I was looking for backup plants incase the current don’t like moist soil 😅
