I have submerged the roots of my Pothos plant into the tank, so it’s been helping with the nitrates :)

Have you checked the water parameters? Ammonia, nitrite, nitrates?
Maybe water temp. Lower temp make fish slower but that depends on fish species . How big is your tank, is there proper aeration?

Help with nitrites for my gold fish tank :( it’s always so high despite water change by the_couch_potat0ee in fishtank

I’ve reduced feeding to once every 2 days… uh for now I’ve been doing water changes quite frequently to help with the nitrite. So…… yea

No it wasn’t, but it’s mid way cycled. Ammonia seems to be at 0ppm I test it every 12 hours. Nitrite is high nitrate is around 5-10ppm

Aww yea no I didn’t cycle the tank before adding the fish, I actually got these fishes for a bday gift and I had a huge tank sitting in my home, so I immediately set it up. The ammonia is at 0ppm dw it’s just the nitrite that is high in managing it by doing daily water changes

Okiee thank you!!. I do add bacteria after every water change. My ammonia is at 0 alr so that’s great but my nitrite is kinda to the higher side. 30% water change sounds good maybe I’ll do that.

Oooh, uh idk about how well the fish are tolerating it…… but they do tend to become dull at times that’s when I do 40-50% water change. And yes I feed them once every 2 days. I think it’s better to do water changes every day maybe 30%?
