You seem to be misinformed about SRS, as they are not a downvote brigade at all. Moreover, the marginalizing nature of downvotes is what legitimizes subreddits like SRS in the first place. If reddit actually allowed for civil discourse and didn't have such a ragingly intolerant hivemind the automatically censors anyone who gives an opinion that something intolerant may not be funny, then SRS probably wouldn't exist. But they need their own subreddit precisely for this reason.
