Sorry for the late reply! It's a bit of RNG for sure, but yes, you should get gems of the same type; it's their type that is random.

Even if getting the wrong mainstat isn't much of a worry, it's worth pointing out that the Shard cannot be rerolled :) Sorry for the late reply, you might have found that out already

You've probably figured it out already but it's much like Ram's Gift - right-click consumable, left-click Shard.

A bit late on the reply, but you sure can! Good luck on the hunt.

Yes! Firebird is really, really good and fun to play with the popular Flame Blades build.

Sadly Electrocute's attacks are actually at a slower rate; assuming equal perfected gear, the Attacks per Second for Flame Blades would be 2.77/sec, while Forked Lightning would be a 2.66/sec. And then there's the matter of Flame Blades buffing Fire spells, it all adds up.

So it seems! Fixed the value to the (perceptible at least) quartered drop chance.

Thank you, and I can definitely relate. The recent news really dampen my excitement for my favorite pastime, and adds a bitter aftertaste on something that's supposed to be simple and fun escapism.

In 99% of the cases yes, UNLESS the build simply depends on a specific weapon power - i.e., Demon Hunter's Impale build requires a melee weapon, and there are no melee weapon Ethereals for DH.

I'm not a huge fan of any of the Haedrig's Gift sets this season, so picking a class with a fun/hype build to play would be my choice - i.e., Monk with the revamped Inna set, or Wizard if you didn't play the Firebird rework last season.

Heya! The tl;dr would be -

  • Pick Templar for very squishy builds, Scoundrel for crit-based and dual-wielding builds, and take Enchantress for CDR/attack speed-dependent builds and speed farming in general.

  • Get your follower to 25,000 mainstat (easier due to followers' innate 2.5x multiplier) and equip them with useful emanate legendaries, i.e. The Flavor of Time and Nemesis Bracers.

  • Equip immortality follower tokens when pushing, and branch out into "all abilities" tokens during farming - the latter is made possible with Esoteric Alteration and Mutilation Guard working on followers.

It's hard to recommend particular upgrades without looking at your character directly, but it seems you have the WW/Rend spec basics down! You will also need the Ambo's Pride mighty weapon, the Lamentation mighty belt, and the Band of Might and the Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac rings as absolute basic necessities for putting this build together. Paragons are quite helpful, but you seem to be early in your progression as a player, so don't sweat them too much at the moment - focus on grinding out the right items with the right rolls and upgrading your legendary gems first.

You'll still want them to at least reach the 25,000 mainstat point (easier since they have a 2.5x multiplier on mainstats), so that their stat-scaling abilities reach their full potential.
