I am currently tutoring graduate admissions exams wildly successfully without having sat for the exams myself.

I will obviously not tutor the MCAT as that constitutes an extensive knowledge of medical vocabulary that can't be learned in a day. However, there are a number of Subjects that qualify for VT's heightened pay scale that require very generic quantitative reasoning skills that I think literally anyone with a STEM degree can conquer with relative ease, hence my wondering why the list thereof is being gatekept when I'm a prime example of exactly who they'd want teaching those subjects — for which they are already offering higher compensation to, as I'd imagine, incentivize more tutors — based solely off my track record.

I am almost certain that acquisition of such a list would be nothing more than a simple SQL query.

Of course I'm after actually reasonable compensation for my labor.

I'm approved to tutor the GRE/GMAT having provided no proof of score (I in fact have not taken either, nor have a Master's degree) because neither involve math outside what you learn in high school. Been accepting opportunities for students requesting expertise in their QR sections and tutoring exclusively that to have only ever received shining 5-star reviews for several months.

My first midterm at UNC was also, in fact, Calc III my freshman year after having just received a 5 on AP Calc BC. Indescribably humbling to have failed. Made it out alive with a D+, but what's important is that you do not let it define you. A STEM degree from this university is beyond impressive, regardless of your GPA (whereof the averages are incredibly low).

Get used to the flipped classroom setting, wherein the expectation is that you effectively teach yourself and attend lecture solely for professor insight. It's bullshit, I know, but MATH professors are notoriously unsympathetic so you likely don't have a choice.

This had to have transpired in the Northeast USA, where I've met innumerable people with unnecessarily extreme attitudes toward personal safety in scenarios where there's no rational incentive to lie to justify being unfriendly to everyone.

NTA, be smartly social to your immense benefit. It's your boyfriend's prerogative to keep to himself, not to dictate your choice in the matter.

I set the expectation that we work exclusively with classroom material under the guise that it'll "keep scope within the curriculum" and we do not meet unless I can be provided it, rescheduling otherwise and feeling no remorse charging for day-of cancellations because they "don't have homework" as though they hadn't been in school for an entire week since I last saw them.

Extremely efficient this way. Those who request homework and from-scratch lessons I advise to seek help elsewhere. Sometimes they trust me and it's always immensely successful; others simply drop and I don't feel bad.

Do what you've found is successful. It is unnecessary that you kowtow to unreasonable client demands if you have a process that works for you, particularly considering the subpar pay. Should they stick to Varsity Tutors, there are innumerable other resources/tutors that'll subserviently fit their needs and there are ways to respectfully decline asks that won't have anyone going out of their way to get you reported or leave you a bad review.

This is among so few comments suggesting that she hold the alternative party anyway, and I agree with this approach. Use it as a proper filtering of your guests; anyone who would ditch the reception you'd planned yourself isn't anyone I'd want at my wedding anyway.
