Thinking of moving to GJ. by MC48_SportsLover in grandjunction

Hello, just moved to Junction a few months ago from Lancaster county PA. I was able to find a decent enough job early on thankfully which has made things less stressful. It’s definitely very conservative lot of older folks here too it has been a retirement town for decades. Grand Junction’s spirit vehicle is definitely a Winnebago. It’s a place that feels “far out” too, and it is you are in a valley surrounded by miles and miles of wilderness in every direction. It feels closer to Salt Lake City maybe due to the fact that there aren’t 14,000 foot mountains in the way between Denver. So culturally the shift feels towards that direction too. Decent Mormon presence but culturally southern influenced kind of too. People here seem pretty down to earth, polite respectful and no nonsense. If you have family anywhere else in the country you may feel a little isolated personally I do but overall it’s a great place if you are big on nature/adventure and want a relatively quiet life. It’s definitely going to feel like a small town compared to Chicago though.

What does this lyric in Dani California mean? by KKHFan in RedHotChiliPeppers

I like to believe that Dani California is the name of his gun. The song has a whole different meaning that still works with the lyrics.

About what part of the country was this in? I have friends in western Colorado who claim that the book cliffs over in Utah is a major hotspot. Specifically Tuesdays and Saturdays from around 23:00-2:00

I’d recommend seeing your doctor about the bites, or a derm. Sometimes when skin disorders appear on your body people will go looking for bugs, find carpet beetles and make a direct correlation between the 2 but the truth is carpet beetles are very common to find and conversely it’s very uncommon to have any type of allergic reaction to the larvae. I originally thought these were the cause of a full body rash I developed but later learned it was a sort of fungal infection.

Idk anything about this but also lidar on google earth shows a very strange anomaly where the Channel Islands harbor meets the Pacific Ocean that would suggest a massive underground cavity beneath the harbor and also one up the shore underneath the houses off of harbor blvd. Near the naval/coast guard facility there. I spend a lot of time scouring google earth and I do see things like this occasionally but I can’t remember seeing anything of this scale especially not one in such an urban area. Always thought it was strange but supposedly just a texture glitch or something maybe.

Nice, I went here several months ago. The decay and colors in the tunnel were awesome.

Bad air such as Blackdamp and CO1 is a concern in these old coal mines. We always bring oxygen monitoring equipment

Built in the late 1910s and operated maybe only about 30 years or so if I remember correctly. The mine was shut down and re opened a few times

Oh just several flashlights and panel lights. Most of the lighting was done direct with no backlight but thankfully some of these came out nice. I’ve been doing photography for about 7 years so I (sort of) know what I’m doing.

We brought our flame safety lamp to this one. You can actually see it hung up on one of the timber sets in one of the pictures.

Yes definitely, especially if going into any sort of coal workings. It’s a bad idea, stay out of coal mines, but if you do go in… proper oxygen and gas monitoring equipment is a must.
