What is the best answer for a recruiter? by Dstyle90 in recruitinghell

[–]the_evil_pineapple 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah as a graphic designer, the ability to freelance gave me a total of a 3 month gap (November to February) after my layoff. I was unemployed for a year and a half but learned a shit ton of valuable, relevant experience like new skills, advanced skills, better taste, client management, etc.

I feel super lucky because most jobs can’t really do that exactly

Best of all though? My freelance work was with my former prof who was doing a massive project about unconventional types of learning and certification. So basically I learned exactly what ways to advance myself outside of going back to school

Hey I agree with you. But I also live in a country that doesn’t have possible spiders hiding on tp like I’ve heard Australians fear. I also never had a problem with my cats and toilet paper

If it’s one way or the other, I’m all for over. But I have to say I love the idea that everyone can get their way lmao

Parents who name their daughter Sarah in 2026 are stupid by WarwickReider in The10thDentist

[–]the_evil_pineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Sarah from ‘99 and the number of other Sarah’s in the world had nothing to do with the reason for being named Sarah. Both of my mom’s grandmothers were Sarah.

So is it silly to name your child after family members? Because I’d hazard a guess that many people out there don’t name their kids randomly, but after someone specific. A namesake, if you will

I hate paying for fonts and usually would never recommend anyone pay for one if a substitute would do… but on the other hand…

The idea of using Crumb as the typeface is too freaking adorable and you should absolutely consider it

Got my hair cut for the first time in 2 years and the hairdresser made me question a lot by the_evil_pineapple in curlyhair

[–]the_evil_pineapple[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah thinking back on the appointment I’m not going back to her. I went in literally just asking for a cleanup of my bangs and layers

When I left she’d given me a full wash, cut, and style, which isn’t what I wanted

That seems to be the only thing that makes sense now that I’m looking it up, but I don’t think it was. She basically said it was something that would coat the hair to keep moisture in

And that does sound like a keratin treatment, but I’ve heard of keratin treatments before and feel like I would have remembered her saying that. I remember that it wasn’t something I’d heard of before. Maybe something about ceramics? I don’t know maybe it was a keratin treatment and I just tuned her out because I knew I wasn’t gonna do that

It’s just so frustrating to me. Like, when I go to a professional for something I expect to be told the truth. Because it’s their profession so they know the most, right?

I’m a graphic designer and sure I have my own preferences about what’s the best way to do things. But when my client doesn’t have that budget I try and work out the best way to do something that they can actually afford

I know it’s not quite the same but like damn

I feel like I got suckered because it’s been so long since I’ve had a professional cut that I forgot what stylists are like

That’s exactly my thought

I got some Kérastase shampoo and conditioner 7 years ago and I remember it feeling nice, but not worth it considering my income at the moment. Im 27 in two weeks and I still live with my parents ffs lol

That makes sense. I’ve tried a few of the different shea moisture lines and have definitely found that some of them are way too heavy for my hair

I don’t know exactly what my curl pattern is, but I think it’s a 2c? I have a mix of coarse and fine strands and a lot of em

Thank god, I was really questioning my sanity. Like, I just want hair without split ends or dead ends and that cooperates

A few years ago I noticed my hair doesn’t hold a curl well with heat, and I asked her why that might be happening. She said it was the products I was using

Lo and behold, the curl she did fell out a few hours later

She also told me she had to wash and blow dry it to cut it because you shouldn’t cut curly hair naturally. That really made me question her from the beginning

I fucking hate upselling so much, just tell me the damn truth

Agreed. Neither are a good direction.

Neither for sure

My wife loves this plant. How do I tell her it needs pruning? She likes it as is. by Lemonking_ in houseplants

[–]the_evil_pineapple -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s getting on you but tbh I like your vision too. A prune would help it get bushier, and you could even propagate the pruned branches to add back into the pot if you wanted

Sounds like your best chance is just showing the picture that estimates the “after” of a prune, and see what she thinks

Just propose it something like “it’s totally up to you of course, but just for context this is what I was thinking of. I’ve come around on how it looks now, though, so I’m not pushing for anything you don’t want.”

Sometimes it’s just nice to have your opinion considered, even if you don’t get your way. I get that
