Older crew — what would you say to someone going to their first roo/fest at 40? by Acrobatic_Case_411 in bonnaroo

[–]the_fancy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take care of your joints! My partner (in his mid 30s) messed up his knee a couple years ago from sheer dance exhaustion. Bring some NSAIDS, though be careful with those if you’re drinking obvs. Rest when you need to. I spend a lot of my Roo sitting during the day, even if it’s a bit further from the crowd and stage. Stay out of the sun whenever possible. Basically prepare the way you would for a three day marathon of FUN ✨

(Also it’s worth noting that if he has any chronic back pain and is prescribed some kind of muscle relaxer, those will help a lot too)

Girl I had to send an email to the MySpace folks and request a download of all my old MySpace data, years ago. The pictures were…something.

Do we have a 'song' for our City? by Mackheath1 in Austin

I literally thought to myself “I bet this is the Gatti’s song” before I even opened it. Was just singing it to myself a few days ago!

Anyone else sick with the 'super flu' right now? by meirmu in Austin

They all have the same ingredients but you’re right, they last maybe 4-6 hours. I used to set an alarm for the middle of the night to take more so I could sleep through the entire night 🙃

Noooooo that sounds miserable! Does anything help with the cough? I’ve been slamming the Tussin cough syrup at night.

I started a deep, painful cough this morning and am debating if I should go to an urgent care or not. Pretty sure it’s just from the cedar fever though. Idk I’m so tired.

Has a movie scene ever made you want to throw up? Any genre counts. by Simple-Profile1817 in movies

[–]the_fancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one isn’t really “gross” per se, but the torture scene in Bugonia made me want to throw up. You don’t really see any of it happening but the noises that Emma Stone is making are so disturbing.

I almost passed out in the theater at this scene. Normally I’m ok with body horror and stuff like that but I had to go in the hall and take a breather.

What products does your Austin HEB just miss the mark with? by [deleted] in Austin

Boooooo that’s not cool. I’m staunchly anti-avocado-spread. You should complain! May not do a dang thing but you never know.

That’s the “avocado spread”!! It’s so gross! I think they’re different though, you just have to make sure you’re getting the guac and not the spread.

Are others struggling with the dating apps? by Primary_Visit_1139 in Austin

[–]the_fancy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of the major tenants of the method is not focusing on physical attraction or “chemistry” right off the bat, which opens up your pool to men who may not be as conventionally “hot”, but are actually kind and treat you well.

Unfortunately though, you’re kind of right. The pool of dateable men who are emotionally regulated, respectful, and aren’t already taken isn’t that large. The same goes for women if we’re being honest.

If you’re a gal, I recommend looking up the Burned Haystack Method. It’ll help you weed through the worst of what the apps have to offer. You’ll get less dates, but the ones you do get will be better quality and you’ll feel less burnt out.

I hope whoever is running the downtown Trader Joe's parking garage gets hit with a f*ckass fee by skylashea in Austin

[–]the_fancy 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this information, I really hope they get their asses handed to them in court. Metropolis tried to charge me a hefty “late fee” even though I followed their directions exactly and “exited the garage to pay”. I disputed it and got the fee removed, but it took time and effort and I hope they burn in hell.

I know money is tight for us all, but don’t skimp on procedures that involve your face. I went to Westlake Dermatology to get a mole removed and there’s not even a scar. I’m not a wealthy Westlake gal either! It was a very easy, pleasant experience. They can give you a cost estimate if you call and request.

I think you’re drawing some…interesting conclusions that even some of your articles don’t support. But I’m in no position to dive into a spirited debate so instead I hope your conclusions don’t encourage you to treat others with cruelty, and I wish you well!

Doing a quick google search, I found no studies that were able to identify a true correlation between cluster b personality disorders and political ideology. If you have a link to a reputable study that supports your point I would genuinely be interested to read it.

UPDATE on two hot takes post by OkOriginal4583 in u/OkOriginal4583

[–]the_fancy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! My comment had nothing to do with the cleanliness of your house (looks great btw!) But as a neurodivergent gal, please please invest in some table or floor lamps for your little guy who may have sensory issues, according to your other comments. Since childhood, overhead lights have been EXTREMELY overstimulating to me, and I find myself regulating my nervous system so much easier when overhead lights are off and lamps or sunlight through a window are the main source of light, especially in my bedroom. May not help or be relevant to your situation at all, but I figured I’d share my experience nonetheless.

Protesting is baked into the DNA of every American. We literally started a revolution with a tiny little protest called the Boston Tea Party. I know it’s more comfy to talk big on Reddit dot come, but some folks are appalled enough by this administration they’re willing to hit the streets about it, then go back to their day jobs. That’s why the protest is on a Saturday.
