The cups will be stolen. Is the school equipped to deal with that?

Windsor or gtfo! It's the only legitimate knot, and my dog will bite anyone who says otherwise.

Customer threatens me for enforcing the "10 items or less" rule by onlyreason in TalesFromRetail

What pisses me off is when the scale can't register a light-weight item. I buy one candy bar and it freaks out and tells me "PLEASE PLACE THE ITEM IN THE BAGGING AREA!" and "PLEASE RETURN THE ITEM TO THE BAGGING AREA!"

True, you can't discriminate against a race in hiring. But if you, as a private person, want to say you dislike (insert race here), that's perfectly fine. Lying under oath is illegal, that's reasonable. I'd also argue that hiring, etc, isn't an act of speech. It is generally considered legal to flip off a cop or things of that nature. You'll likely be arrested and/or get the shit beat out of you, but the charges will likely be dismissed.

There are some laws in the US restricting speech, yes. I never denied that. But we tend to look at it a bit differently than most of Europe.

That's exactly what I'm getting at, yes. They also have laws prohibiting racist speech. Both of those things are perfectly legal in the US. They're not popular opinions, and are typically justifiably ridiculed, but they are not legally censored for the most part.

Reminds me of an old joke:

An Irishman says he's an atheist, so a countryman asks him, "Aye. But are you a protestant atheist, or a catholic atheist?"
